Hyderabad: Musini Tejasree, assistant professor at Telangana Agriculture University, has levelled serious allegations against Vice-Chancellor Alidas Janaiah, accusing him of sexual and mental harassment.
At a press conference at the Hyderabad Press Club on Saturday, she said the harassment began after she sought an extension to complete her PhD in Microbiology.
Despite filing complaints with the Telangana DGP and the Women Safety Wing, she alleged she has not received justice.
Tejasree claimed she was pressured to accompany officials to Delhi and to leave her husband.
“If you had been born twenty years earlier, I would have married you,” one of them remarked, she said, adding that such humiliating comments should not be tolerated.
She said she had kept the harassment to herself for long but could no longer endure it as it escalated day by day.
She alleged she was transferred to Nizamabad out of spite, where she is currently working, while her husband is employed abroad.
Bursting into tears, she declared she would not sacrifice her self-respect for a transfer.
She said that when she went to the VC’s chamber, he spoke in a derogatory manner.
She asserted she would not stoop so low for favours, adding that she has the support of her family and husband.
Tejasree said she met DGP Anand personally to lodge a complaint.
Though he issued orders for immediate action, she alleged no steps have been taken against the VC to date.
She reiterated that her family’s support gave her the strength to come forward to the media.
