Hyderabad: The Doctors Indian Pickleball League (DIPL) kicked off with great enthusiasm at the Cross Courts complex in Hyderabad on Saturday. A total of 11 teams are competing in the league stage which follows a round-robin format, with the top four teams qualifying for the playoffs. The final will take place on December 11.
Speaking on the occasion, DIPL founder Dr Ravi Andrews said: “The average life expectancy of doctors in India is lower than that of the general population. This Pickleball League serves as an important initiative to ensure that doctors do not neglect their own health amidst professional pressures. We have received an excellent response for the very first season, with 80 doctors participating this year. Notably, the league is being conducted in a gender-neutral format. A cash prize of ₹4 lakh will be awarded to the winners.”
