Former This Morning host, Holly Willoughby, has spoken candidly about what she sees in the mirror after previously refusing to discuss her body during her 20-year career
Holly Willoughby has made a candid comment about her appearance after refusing to talk about her body for decades.
Speaking on the The Beauty Desk podcast while also revealing she feels she looks “more gaunt”, the mum-of-three, shared: “I was always aware when I was younger of having really big old cheeks in my face, I was youthful and squidgy, but I had a squidgy face and this is the lovely thing about getting older is that everything heads south and you thin out and you get a bit more gaunt.”
Holly, 45, is one of the most well-known presenters in the country and has appeared on the cover of a whole host of magazines. However, despite being one of the most photographed women in showbiz, Holly has refused to talk about her diet or weight loss, saying: “I don’t think it’s helpful to the conversation, for women generally”.

Since stepping down from This Morning two years ago following the Phillip Scofield scandal in which the Broom Cupboard star admitted to an affair with a younger colleague on the show, Holly has launched a new YouTube – Holly Together – in which the presenter shows a much more irreverent side of herself.
On the show, Holly speaks candidly with an array of guests and she has now opened up about what she sees when she looks in the mirror while bravely admitting that she feels like ‘everything has headed south’.
Holly also said she prefers her face – and bum – now to when she was younger, adding: “I prefer where my face is now than when I was younger…it’s like my bum, when I was young my bum was a real peach, it was really high, it was a big old bum and now it’s slightly down my legs I prefer it, because it’s not so round.”
Holly’s comments come after the star launched her first presenting venture since stepping down from This Morning in 2023 following the Phillip Schofield scandal after her co-host’s affair with a younger colleague.
Her new show is sponsored by Voy, who provide private prescriptions and ongoing clinical support for weight-loss medication. It’s an unusual move for the star who has repeatedly refused to discuss weight loss or diets throughout her 20 year career.
George Pallis, Founder and CEO at Voy, is adamant that Holly’s new show is “genuinely aligned” with the company and what they “believe.”
However, the partnership is an unexpected choice as Holly – who shares children Harry, 15, Belle, 15 and Chester, 11 with husband Dan Baldwin – has been vocal about not wanting to promote weight loss or diets.
In 2019, she explained how she “deliberately” didn’t discuss hers or anyone else’s weight loss because people get “obsessed” and that the parents of children with eating disorders had told her that society’s “fascination” with weight made things harder for them.
She said: “I don’t think it’s helpful to the conversation, for women generally. As long as you are healthy and happy, that’s really all that matters… It’s not up to me to give you a blow-by-blow account of what I’ve eaten that day. It’s not helpful, and it’s not what’s important.”
