Michigan football has made a midseason move.
The Wolverines have fired offensive coordinator Jason Beck on Sunday, Nov. 8, the program announced, less than 24 hours after a mortifying 15-6 loss to Michigan State one night earlier.

Michigan’s offense has been a focal point for 5-4 season, with much of the blame heaped on Beck, who came from Utah with coach Kyle Whittingham ahead of the 2026 season.
“The results have not matched our desired outcome, and I felt that a change in leadership was required for our offense,” Whittingham said in a statement. “We need to put our offensive players and the entire team in the best possible position to be successful.”
Michigan offensive coordinator Jason Beck shakes hands with fans as the team walk towards Michigan Stadium for the game against Western Michigan in Ann Arbor on Saturday, Sept. 5, 2026.
Beck was well-regarded as the offensive coordinator for the Utah Utes under Whittingham, but his offensive schemes have not produced positive results in Ann Arbor, with Michigan currently sitting at No. 126 out of 138 FBS schools in yards per game (302.6).

Jim Harding, the offensive line coach and assistant head coach, was named interim offensive coordinator for the remainder of the regular season.
