Abby and Matt Howard’s Love Story, From First Meeting To Pregnancy Loss And Growing Family Again

Abby Howard and Matt Howard have shared a big part of their life online, but their story goes much deeper than what people see on screen. They met as teenagers, fell in love slowly, and built a life step by step. Today, they are parents, partners, and creators. But the last two years have been very different for them. Back in 2013, Abby Howard and Matt Howard met during a local Mary Poppins show in St. Louis. Abby had come from a small town to follow her interest in performing, while Matt was already living there. At first, they were just friends. They spent time together during the show and got to know each other slowly.

A few years later, in June 2016, things changed, and they started dating. The couple faced difficulties because they attended separate schools and lived in distant locations. They succeeded in maintaining their relationship. The couple maintained daily communication and met whenever their schedules allowed. Soon after, both joined Missouri State University. Being in the same place made their bond even stronger. By August 2018, they felt ready for the next step, and Matt proposed.

Less than a year later, on July 6, 2019, they got married. Around the same time, they also started their YouTube channel, Matt & Abby. Then, in December 2020, Abby graduated. It was a proud moment, and Matt made sure to celebrate it by sharing how happy he felt seeing her reach that point.

Abby Howard and Matt Howard’s lives underwent a transformation when their first son, Griffin was born in July 2022. Abby shared that moment with their followers and showed how much it meant to them. The couple achieved their first milestone as parents, which brought them both happiness and their new parental duties. Their second son, August, was born exactly one year later in August 2023. 

Their family grew to four, and their content began to reflect their daily life as parents. They had a short honeymoon after getting married in June 2019, which they celebrated by visiting Cabo San Lucas for a few days during their fifth anniversary in June 2024. Both enjoyed a very happy and peaceful time there.

But a few months later, in September 2024, they found themselves in the middle of an online talk. Abby shared how they adjusted their dinner timing during a cruise while their kids were asleep. Some people questioned it at first, but later, it came out that their family was right next door, taking turns, and the kids were safe. Even then, they didn’t hide anything, and they continued to share openly, just like they always have.

In September 2025, Abby and Matt Howard shared heartbreaking news with their audience. During a routine pregnancy checkup, doctors were unable to find their baby’s heartbeat. They discovered that their daughter, Emerson Nicole, had a genetic disorder that caused her death at 17 weeks. They opened up about their pain and wrote:

“The news felt unimaginable. The grief is absolutely devastating. But we feel so much gratitude for the time that we did get to have with her.”

That moment changed a lot for them, and their life did not feel the same after that. Matt shared on their podcast, Unplanned, that it made him see how hard life can be. Abby also spoke about how the loss brought them closer, even though it was very painful. Abby expressed, sharing how they had to understand each other in a deeper way during that time. She was quoted as saying;

“We’re kind of building a brand-new marriage,” 

They started therapy and worked on their communication. Step by step, they tried to heal. During this phase, they also brought home a puppy, which added a small sense of comfort to their days. Then, in March 2026, they shared something new. Abby Howard and Matt Howard announced they are expecting their fourth child. 

The news came just six months after their loss, which made it even more emotional. After everything they went through, they are choosing to move forward with hope. They stayed together, worked through the loss, and are now preparing to welcome another child.
