Accused High Country killer Greg Lynn has launched a bid for freedom, arguing he should be released on bail.
The Caroline Springs father lodged documents with the Victorian Supreme Court in recent days, with an upcoming hearing to be heard in court.
His defence team confirmed a written application had been lodged and Lynn would ask a judge to be released back into the community.
The former Jetstar pilot, is accused of murdering retiree Carol Clay, 73, in Gippsland’s Wonnangatta Valley in March 2020.
At the time, Clay had been camping with friend Russell Hill, 74.
Lynn was convicted of Carol Clay’s murder in June 2024 and sentenced to 32 years behind bars. The Supreme Court set aside that conviction in December, with three Court of Appeal judges finding elements of the trial had caused Lynn to suffer a serious miscarriage of justice.
The same jury in 2024 also found Lynn not guilty of the murder of Hill, who was camping with Clay at the time and died at the same time.
Lynn will not be retried over this rejected accusation. He has always claimed that Hill and Clay both died accidentally.
More to come.
