Adam Peaty paid tribute to a person who helped him in his life and career – not his estranged mum, who recently shared a cryptic post about dark times
Adam Peaty has shared a touching tribute following his mum’s candid posts. However, he has ignored mum Caroline’s thoughts on “dark times” and instead focused on another part of his rise to fame.
The Olympic swimmer, 31, took the time to praise former coach, Melanie Marshall. The pair had a 15-year partnership in the sport until they went their separate ways following the 2024 Olympics in Paris.
And as he continues to ignore his mum, he recreated an image of him with his coach from a decade ago. As he shared the snap from, he credited his trainer for shaping him ‘into the man I am today’.

He had also praised his coach in his wedding speech to Holly Ramsay at the end of last year. In his latest post, he gushed: “February ‘26 x February ‘16. You shaped the man I am today and it was an honour to be back with you for two weeks @melmarshallmassive.
“Great to see you thriving in what you do best! 15+ Years goes pretty fast but I’ll never forget the incredible memories.”
His comments come as his mum shared a cryptic post. She shared a tranquil image of a sunset which had the words: “You’re living proof that you can go through the darkest times and still come out kind, radiant, real and full of love.”
It was reported last year that she had been unninvited from her son’s wedding, which took place at Bath Abbey in December 2025. The decision came as tensions brewed following Holly’s decision not to invite her future mother-in-law to her hen do. It was previously reported that the Peatys had described Gordon as a “big bully” who “pushed them too far”.
However, the TV chef furiously denied those claims. While promoting his new Netflix show, he told The Sun that the claimed were “absolute nonsense”.
He highlighted that he had even sent a personal driver to collect both Caroline and her husband Mark for Adam and Holly’s engagement party. Both he and his wife Tana were also guests at the event.
Gordon told the publication: “I’m certainly not a bully. I think when you send personal chauffeur cars up to Nottingham to invite this incredible family down to enjoy their party – by the way Holly and Adam were hosting that party, Caroline and Mark, Tana and I were guests – appalling to even suggest there was any bullying. That’s absolute nonsense.”
He went on to say he was “welcoming” to them. However, he admitted there was “a lot of friction” going on before anything happened publicly. He said it was sad to see what he described as “that barrage of negativity that was self-propelled by them”.
