Adam Peaty’s mum Caroline and dad Mark were shunned from the Olympian’s wedding to Holly Ramsay, and her TV chef father has broken his silence on the bitter fall out
The parents of Adam Peaty are set to face fresh pain as a new documentary features their son with the Ramsay family gushing about their love for each other.
Peaty’s mum Caroline and dad Mark previously had a close relationship with their son Olympic swimmer son, which has deteriorated over the last year and led to a public spat between the Peatys and the Ramsays. Caroline and Mark were not invited to the wedding of Adam and Holly at Christmas.
Adam remains very close to his father-in-law after marrying Holly and in Gordon’s new Netflix series the way he speaks about the TV chef, you could be forgiven for thinking he was his own dad. Adam says: “I knew I wanted to marry Hol, and I knew that because, without getting emotional, because I like to get emotional, Holly brings me a peace that I’ve never had in all aspects of my life.

“And I saw what she was like with George[his son from previous relationship]. I’ve seen how her family works. And I think when you’re marrying someone, I believe you’re also marrying into the family. And for me, Gordon is very fair, very respectful, but also loves a good joke. We’re very similar.”
Gordon says the same about Adam: “Adam is so grounded. He’s not walking around as an Olympic champion with his head up his ass. He’s my type of guy. He’s a gent, an absolute thoroughbred.”
There is no mention of Adam’s own family in the six part series although it does feature footage from Adam and Holly’s engagement party. One TV source said: “This series is unlikely to help to heal the rift.”
Previous reports suggested Peaty’s family had asked not to be in the documentary but the Mirror can reveal mum Caroline does feature, but for just FOUR SECONDS when she hugs Holly, before also being seen in background as speeches are given.
Gordon, Holly and Adam give speeches but talk mainly about themselves and the Ramsay family, with Adam again not referencing his own upbringing of family in the scenes shown.
At the event held at one of Gordon’s London restaurants, Gordon said: “Obviously I could not be happier to welcome Adam and George into the Ramsey family. Are you mad you don’t read the press?
“Holly is everything you’d want in an amazing woman. And if this is just a little insight to how cool your lives are going to be going forward, on behalf of Tana and I and the entire Ramsey family, we wish you all the very best, and we couldn’t be prouder. Congratulations. Thank you.”
Holy then took the microphone and said: “Thank you everyone for being here tonight. We’ve had ups and downs, and you’ve been there through absolutely everything. I’m so thankful to you for loving me and believing in me, and seeing me. I love you.”
And finally stood closely to his mum, Adam said: “You are the most beautiful person inside and out. I’m gonna go(tears). I couldn’t think of a better partner to battle and enjoy life with. We will face moments of hard times, but also have a life full of love, children and happiness. So with that in mind, before I cry too much, I’m going to cut most of the speech off.
Gordon, thank you for trusting me with your beautiful daughter. I’m just very glad that you didn’t say no when I asked for permission to marry her.”
Peaty also says it was “daunting” but he was pleased he asked permission as it “actually turned into a very wonderful moment that I will remember for the rest of my life”.
Most of his family, including his mum Caroline, dad Mark and brothers James and Richard, stayed at their homes 150 miles away on the wedding day in December last year after he fell out with them.
But last week promoting the new Netflix project, Gordon insisted he wanted to call a truce and bring an end to the issues between the two families. He described it as “upsetting” and “self-inflicted from their side”.
He told the Daily Mail: “It’s just upsetting. It’s all self-inflicted from their side, because we’ve done nothing – none of what you’ve read: no rudeness, no ignorance – we welcomed them.
“We sent a chauffeur-driven car for them to come to the engagement party and treated them like royalty. So to get that barrage of press was very hurtful. Tana took it very seriously.”
And, Gordon insisted it was Holly, 26, and 31-year-old Adam’s decision to keep his parents away from the wedding.
He said: “It was Adam and Holly’s wishes for them not to attend and so we had to respect that. There’s stuff they need to sort out as parents. That’s nothing to do with Tana and me.
“But we are very mindful we want to move on and allow Holly and Adam to continue starting their lives together.”
However, he would like to end the feud between the families for the sake of their kids. He said: “I would like to go up to Nottingham with Tana and see them and draw a line in the sand.”
In the interview his wife Tana, 51, added: “We’ve had fallouts within my family, there are no winners. I’m so grateful we got through mine and have happy relationships again. You don’t have to be best friends, but be civil. You can’t be happy when there’s a fallout going on. It’s really negative, and no one wants that.”
One of the issues that caused the feud came in November when it was claimed Adam’s mother Caroline was not invited to Holly’s hen party. Adam later took to Instagram to claim that he, Holly and his sister Bethany had been “targeted”.
He wrote: “Over the past few days, a lot has been reported and comments posted about the private life of Holly and myself. My sister Bethany has also been targeted.
“This has been almost entirely one-sided and, in many cases, excessive and intrusive. It has been deeply hurtful and upsetting to read, especially given the false basis upon which we have been targeted. What makes it worse is that it has been encouraged by members of my family.
“Bethany, Holly and myself cannot go into detail given an ongoing police investigation into serious matters that arose long before recent events. For those who know me personally, you know that I work so hard on trying to improve myself as a person who wants to contribute to making the world a better place.”
Being Gordon Ramsay launches on Netflix on Wednesday February 18.
