Leonardo DiCaprio is up for his seventh BAFTA tonight after being nominated for Best Leading Actor at 51 – and this may be a rare year where he turns up with a woman over 25 on his arm.
DiCaprio and 27-year-old model Vittoria Ceretti have been dating since 2023.
The question remains around whether DiCaprio has finally settled down with Ceretti as the 51-year-old becomes the youngest ever seven-time BAFTA leading actor nominee.
People have noted this relationship is a departure from the long-standing tradition of him going separate ways with his girlfriends soon after their 25th birthday.
One Reddit user reflected on his romance with Ceretti saying: “WAIT – SHE’S 26?! Is she the oldest that Leo has dated?”. Another responded: “He took the criticism and raised his limit to 27.” A third quipped: “27 is a BIG number. Leo prefers to think of it as 26 years, 11 months and 29 days.”
Even Sabrina Carpenter had a birthday cake for her 25th with a meme of DiCaprio’s face reading “nooo you’re so sexy don’t turn 25.”
But time is ticking for Ceretti, 24 years Leo’s junior, as there is no evidence of the 90s heartthrob ever having dated a woman over the age of 27.
In 2022, the actor broke up with Morrone who was 20 when they started dating when he was 43. Reports of their split surfaced shortly after her 25th birthday.
Morrone defended her relationship with DiCaprio on Instagram saying: “Good morning people and happy Friday. I just read some of the comments on my Instagram and… my God, people are so mean and full of anger with people that they know nothing about.
“I guess I just hope on this Friday that people learn to live with a little less hatred and place their time and interests elsewhere because living without hatred feels pretty good.”
Aside from Morrone, he dated Bar Refaeli until 2010, the year she turned 25. The actor also briefly dated Kelly Rohrbach in 2015, the year she turned 25, and he dated Nina Agdal from 2016 until 2017 when they split the year she turned 25.
There was a flicker of hope when DiCaprio was briefly linked to supermodel Gigi Hadid, a then 27-year-old mum. But any optimism was soon dashed when he was then rumoured to be dating 19-year-old Eden Polari, according the Daily Mail.
He was then seeing 23-year-old Victoria Lamas, whose father said she was “smitten” with the 48-year-old.
His other public relationships, including his public romance with Gisele Bündchen which lasted from 1999 and 2005, all saw him dating women in their early 20s.
Even in his youth he preferred a younger woman, dating the teenage Gisele when he was 25. They split when she was 23.
The separation was said to be amicable. DiCaprio told Esquire: “Six months of being on location or being off in Morocco or someplace like that is not the best thing for a relationship.
A lot of your life is put on hold when you make movies. Everything, whether personal relationships or friendships, is put on ice when you go on location for five or six months, away from everybody.”
In her book Lessons: My Path to a Meaningful Life, Bundchen reflected on her relationship with DiCaprio saying “everyone who crosses our path is a teacher, they come into our lives to show us something about ourselves and I think that’s what he was. What is good versus bad. I honour him for what he was.”
After Gisele, DiCaprio started dating Bar Rafael seeing her on and off from 2005 to 2011 before he inevitably broke things off with her… in the year.
