Bagalkot: With polling for the Bagalkot Assembly by-election scheduled for April 9, election machinery swung into full gear on Wednesday as polling personnel were dispatched to their respective booths from the muster centre set up in Navanagar.

Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer Sangappa, along with General Observer Parul Patwari, visited the centre established at the Government First Grade College in Sector No. 43 and reviewed the arrangements.

Speaking on the occasion, Sangappa said that a total of 2,59,797 voters will exercise their franchise in the by-election. As many as 322 polling stations have been set up, and a total of 1,564 polling personnel, including reserve staff, have been deployed for the conduct of elections.

He added that elaborate transport arrangements had been made for the movement of polling personnel, including 35 buses, 9 mini-buses, 11 maxi cabs and 10 Trax vehicles.

After taking stock of the mustering process, the General Observer conducted a detailed inspection of the preparations. She visited the rooms where election materials had been arranged and instructed polling officials to strictly adhere to the Election Commission’s guidelines while discharging their duties.

Election materials were subsequently distributed to polling officials at the centre.

Zilla Panchayat CEO Shashidhar Kurera also visited the muster centre and observed the distribution of election materials. He stressed the need to maintain transparency and discipline throughout the election process.

Breakfast and lunch were arranged for polling personnel deputed for election duty. After having their meals, the staff proceeded to their respective centres with the required materials, as part of efforts to ensure that the polling process is conducted smoothly and peacefully.
