NELLORE: Aditya Birla Group has offered ₹5 crore of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) funds to construct a new building block for the Government Industrial Training Institute (ITI) at Tarunavaya village in Sangam mandal of Nellore district.
The offer follows efforts of AP Endowments minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy to utilise infrastructure worth over ₹100 crore created with support from Lagadapati Foundation at Tarunavaya village near the national highway for starting a hub of residential educational facilities and technical training facilities.
A team of Aditya Birla Group representatives from Mumbai visited Tarunavaya on Saturday and inspected the existing buildings, available land and infrastructure, as well as the scope for additional facilities.
The team representatives Arun Singh and Jayadev later met Nellore district collector Himanshu Shukla and conveyed the Aditya Birla Group’s willingness to provide ₹5 crore in CSR funds for a fully equipped building block at the Sangam ITI.
The discussions covered technical requirements, coordination among departments concerned, and steps required to begin construction. Officials from the engineering and revenue departments, ITI principals and staff, and representatives from the minister’s office participated in the discussions.
The proposed facilities are intended to improve access to technical education and vocational training for students from rural areas and help them acquire industry-relevant skills.
The broader proposal is to develop Tarunavaya into an education and skill-development hub catering to the Atmakur constituency, with the government, Lagadapati Foundation, and the Aditya Birla Group being involved in expanding educational opportunities.
