Singer Anne-Marie has been distant from social media recently, and has now offered a heartfelt explanation to her concerned fans about balancing motherhood and her music career

Pop star Anne-Marie has provided a heartfelt update after supporters expressed worry over her absence. The 34-year-old vocalist, who shares two children, Seven and Forever Sugar, with partner Slowthai, has built an impressive career with chart-toppers including ‘Ciao Adios,’ ‘Psycho’ and ‘2002’. However, devotees have been questioning her whereabouts as she’s been notably quiet on the music front, whilst her social media presence has also diminished considerably from what followers would typically expect.

On February 20 the Essex-born artist took to X, reassuring fans: “I am writing, I promise,” before sharing a lighthearted observation the following day: “Isn’t it mad how every single human being has different handwriting?”

Come March 1, she posted: “Some people are just sooooooo boring mate,” though 10 days later her mood had shifted dramatically as she gushed: “I just can’t believe how beautiful my babies are my heart hurts”.

Yet, later that very day, Anne-Marie felt compelled to address her supporters directly about her recent absence and emotional state.

She revealed: “Feeling emotional today. Sorry I been distant. Not sure if you care but I do. I’m working really hard to get this right. Still figuring out how to be a good mum AND write the best album you’ve heard from me. It’s intense.

“I want to post, but I look and feel like a wreck most of the time. I know you don’t care about that though haha. I miss you all so much and hope you are feeling as happy as you can be. A cuddle is needed”.

In the comments section on X, supporters commended her for her honesty, emphasising that she was entirely justified in stepping back whilst managing motherhood alongside planning her next career moves.

One fan posted: “No apology necessary. Even if you just wanted a break from the socials it wouldn’t be needed either. Get loads of cuddles from the kid(s) as we can only send virtual hugs. Here’s a cat hug just since I’ve got two cats at home”.

Another responded: “Take all the damn time you need, queen. The world can wait – your babies and your masterpiece can’t be rushed. We’re not going anywhere. Big love and virtual squeeze”.

A third contributor offered: “Anne-Marie, you never ever need to apologise for being distant. You’re balancing being a mum, being human, and creating something beautiful for all of us; that’s a lot for anyone. The fact that you even worry about us during all of that just shows what a genuine, caring person you are!”

Someone else expressed: “Hey, there’s no pressure, we love you with or without a new album, yet we can wait! Take your time you babies need you more and I’m 100% sure you’re an amazing mum!

Another follower commented: “I’ve missed you terribly too… But honestly, being a mum is really tough… I’d love to hear you sing again…

“Seeing your low spirits in your posts breaks my heart… I hope all your troubles say ‘goodbye’! Keep going! You’ll make a wonderful mum!”
