Union minister of state for rural development and communications Dr Pemmasani Chandrasekhar on Tuesday hailed the Andhra Pradesh Postal Circle for emerging as the best-performing postal circle in the country as India Post recorded more than `4,000 crore in first-quarter revenue for the first time.

Addressing the Q1 review meeting of the India Post Annual Business Plan 2026-27 at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi, chaired by Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, Pemmasani described the achievement as a milestone for India Post and its employees.

He said India Post’s first-quarter revenue had increased from `3,280 crore in the corresponding period of the previous financial year to over `4,000 crore this year, registering a 22 per cent growth.

The minister said sustained reviews, disciplined execution and the commitment of postal employees had helped India Post achieve nearly 16 per cent annual revenue growth last year despite modest growth during the first half of the financial year.

Highlighting Andhra Pradesh’s performance, Pemmasani said the Andhra Pradesh Postal Circle ranked first among the country’s 23 postal circles and was the only circle to achieve 102 per cent of its quarterly revenue target. He added that the state also topped the country in mail operations, Mail Monitoring Unit (MMU) delivery performance and Post Office Savings Bank services.

Pemmasani said the present growth should be treated as a stepping stone towards achieving 30 per cent annual growth. He said India Post had evolved into a trusted platform for logistics, financial inclusion and digital public services.

The Union minister for state urged officials to spend more time in the field, mentor underperforming postal circles and replicate best practices. He reaffirmed the Centre’s commitment to building a technology-driven, people-centric India Post in line with the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
