Apoorva Mukhija, popularly known as The Rebel Kid, is one of the few content creators who have managed to keep their audience entertained for a long time. Since the past few months, Apoorva has been gaining a lot of attention for both good and bad reasons. After the most public IGL controversy, recently the social media creator revealed about retiring from content creation.
Apoorva Mukhija never took content creation seriously
In a recent interview with SCREEN, the popular social media creator, Apoorva Mukhija opened up about creating content for her fans. While talking about showing emotions online, Apoorva shared that even though she has spent years showing her vulnerable side, she believes one should not. She mentioned that the internet is a place for entertaining people and not showing emotions. She was quoted as saying:
“I have spent so many years without putting my vulnerable side on social media. I don’t think the internet is a place where you should be sharing your feelings, emotions, or deepest darkest secrets. My job is to entertain, and I do that; if I don’t, then I make you hate me, which turns into your entertainment, so I am doing my role. I don’t use social media as a diary or journal, but as a way of entertaining people.”
In the same interview, Apoorva continued to mention that she always created content for fun and never took it seriously. She explained that since people have started calling this as an industry, some of her close ones are also forcing her to take things seriously. She shared:
“We all started this job as a fun thing to do, and now people use terms like industry. It’s just like talking to your camera, so how did we get here? You have to fight to stay relevant, be in trend, be seen everywhere, get papped, go to an event, and be friends with a network…who came up with all this? This is my challenge; I was never taking this so seriously, and now suddenly everybody is asking me to take it seriously and do things a certain way. I am just a girl who wants to talk to a camera; it’s not that deep.”
Is Apoorva Mukhija retiring from content creation?
During the same interview with SCREEN, The Rebel Kid also shared that after the traumatising experience of IGL controversy, involving Samay Raina and Ranveer Allahbadia, she has started posting very less content about her actual life, since she does not want people to say that she is always partying. The Nadaniyaan actress also revealed her wish to retire from creating content as she wants to do something else. In her words:
“I want to retire from content creation. I have been doing it for too long, so I want to do something else. I am working on something else. If it pans out great, if it doesn’t, then I am always doing content.”
