TEHRAN- The head of the Energy Committee of the Iran Chamber of Commerce, in response to the U.S. president’s saying about targeting Iran’s power plants, emphasized: Attacking infrastructure is a violation of international law and human rights.

Arash Najafi stated in an interview with IRNA: Attacking infrastructure is against international conventions and laws and infrastructure should not be targeted by countries.

He reminded: The world should not forget that Iran has not closed the Strait of Hormuz, and while the strait is blocked to enemies, ships from friendly and neutral countries in the war can pass through this waterway.

Najafi acknowledged: Like any country that comes under attack, Iran considers defending itself its absolute right and will stand firm in this regard.

The head of the Energy Committee of the Iran Chamber of Commerce, while supporting the Islamic Republic’s right to defend and respond, continued: Our country has stood firm against enemy aggression and protects its territorial integrity, independence, military strength, and infrastructure.

On Saturday, Donald Trump posted a message on social media in a move that some U.S. senators interpreted as a sign of his loss of control over the war, writing: If Iran does not fully open the Strait of Hormuz without threats within 48 hours, the United States will attack and destroy various Iranian power plants.

In response, the spokesman for the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters stated: If the enemy damages our power plants, nothing can stop us from continuing our operations to destroy the energy, oil, and industrial infrastructure of the United States and its allies in the region.
