Defending champions Australia will look to return to the top of the table as they take on arch-rivals England in match no. 23 of the ICC Women ODI World Cup 2025 at the Holkar Stadium in Indore on Wednesday. Both Australia and England have qualified for the semifinals all ready and have 9 points each – a win for either side will help them replace South Africa at the top of the table, who have 10 points after their win over Pakistan on Tuesday night.
Aussies will, however, miss the services of their in-form skipper Alyssa Healy, who is missing out due to a minor calf strain. They will be led by Tahlia McGrath in the absence of Healy. Among the Australian batters only stand-in skipper McGrath is yet to fire with only 43 runs so far in the tournament but additional responsibility of captaincy should bring the best out of her.
England, on the other hand, will be concerned about their lower middle-order who have been woeful in the World Cup so far with average of just 9.25. They might look to bolster their batting with the addition of Danni Wyatt-Hodge in place of Sophia Dunkley, Alice Capsey or Emma Lamb.
For the champions, Georgia Voll is set to replace captain Healy at the top of the order with Beth Mooney set to take over the wicketkeeping gloves in her absence.
