U.S. Olympic men’s hockey captain Auston Matthews celebrated with his girlfriend, Vanessa Piunno, after the team’s gold-medal victory against Canada at the 2026 Milan Cortina Winter Games, as seen in an Instagram post on Tuesday.
Piunno, who is a certified skincare specialist and entrepreneur, shared photos of the pair partying in Milan, confirming they’re an item.
“A month to remember forever ❤️❤️,” Piunno captioned her post.
One snapshot shows the former singer hugging Matthews, the captain of the Toronto Maple Leafs.
He put his arm around her and held a glass of white wine in one hand.
Piunno, who is based in Toronto, sported a Milano Cortina Olympics jacket with Matthews’ name on the color and his No. 34 on the arm.
It’s unclear how long the pair have been dating.
Matthews and his Olympic teammates partied at E11even nightclub in Miami after a dramatic 2-1 overtime win against the Canadians on Feb. 22.
After that, he visited the White House with most of his teammates last Tuesday, but did not stick around for U.S. President Donald Trump’s State of the Union address.
The men’s team faced backlash in the wake of their gold-medal victory for how they responded to a joke made by Trump during their celebratory phone call in the locker room — when the president said he would have to invite the U.S. women’s hockey team following their gold medal win in Milan or else, “I believe I probably would be impeached.”
Members of the men’s team could be heard laughing in a viral video of the call, which was facilitated by FBI director Kash Patel, on social media.
Trump said in his SOTU address that the women’s hockey team will “soon” visit the White House, despite the team declining his invitation due to scheduling conflicts following their 2-1 overtime victory against Canada in the gold-medal game in Milan.
