BAFTA viewers have been left fuming as the memoriam missed out on many famous faces. Each year, the awards ceremony pays tribute to those involved in the industry who have tragically died.

But this year, many at home were far from impressed after Eric Dane appeared to be missing from the memorial segment, which saw Jessie Ware perform an emotional rendition of The Way We Were by Barbra Streisand. While Eric was mainly known for his TV work, he also appeared in films such as X-Men: The Last Stand and One Fast Move.

He will also posthumously star in the film Family Secrets, although there is no scheduled release date yet. However, fans were not impressed and took to X, formerly known as Twitter after several stars were missed. “No Eric Dane?” asked one, while a second penned: “Hold on just a minute, why was Eric Dane not in that tribute video then?????? #BAFTAs.”

A third fumed: “Yet again, BAFTA mess up the tribute section. There was more focus/footage of Jessie Ware than anyone else and how insulting to put 3 names on the screen at once. I’d rather see less of Ware and more of the tributes. Instrumental next time, no performance #BAFTAs.”

Another said: “@BAFTA where was Claudia Cardinale in your memorial piece? A huge overlook on your behalf #BAFTAS.” While, a fifth went on to say: “Poor oversight by BAFTA. James Van der Beek and Eric Dane should have been included in the memorial section #BAFTAs.”

“No Claudia Cardinale in the memoriam?!!!” asked another. “Why was Bela Tarr not in the In Memoriam sequence in tonight’s BAFTAs?,” fumed a seventh fan.

Eric tragically died on February 19, aged 53, just shy of a year after he announced that he had been diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as motor neurone disease. Dane started experiencing symptoms in early 2025, before losing the use of his right arm and hand in October 2025.

Honoured this year, were the likes of actor Dharmendra, director Jim Abrahams, Joss Ackland CBE,
