The Great British Bake Off judge Prue Leith recently undertook a lifestyle change with her husband, John Playfair – but the results for each of them were strikingly different

The Great British Bake Off judge Prue Leith has revealed details about a lifestyle transformation she and her husband, John Playfair, recently embarked upon. The 85-year-old culinary expert disclosed that she and John started using Mounjaro – also referred to as Tirzepatide – a drug approved for Type 2 diabetes treatment that has gained popularity for weight loss.

Providing an update on their journey, Prue confessed that while she’s observed changes in her husband’s physique, this isn’t the case for her.

“I took it for two months, lost my appetite completely and didn’t shed an ounce – nothing,” she told The Times.

“Every day I got on the scales and I still weighed exactly the same as before. I hated the b****y thing and I was tired all the time, presumably because I wasn’t eating.”

Despite seeing no results personally, she mentioned her husband remained convinced that she had slimmed down.

“John said I looked thinner, which I think means old and scraggy round the face,” she joked.

Despite his observation, Prue chose to discontinue what she characterised as the “expensive” injection, stating: “It was terrible for me.”

John, however, has lost an impressive two stone since using Mounjaro. Yet, the transformation has produced one consequence that Prue takes issue with.

“He hardly drinks now, and I’m a great boozer,” she said. “I have two or three glasses of wine every night, and he’ll only have half a glass – which he probably won’t finish. It’s a pity.”

Prue and John have been married for nine years after being introduced through mutual pals.

The day after they got to know each other, she recalled John appearing at her front door to see her once more, and love subsequently flourished.

Viewers recently gained insight into their marriage through their collaboration on Prue Leith’s Cotswold Kitchen.

Looking back on their filming experience, Prue confessed that John didn’t entirely understand the television production process initially.

“When we did the first show together, John was not listening to what the director said,” she recalled on Lorraine.

“So I said to him, ‘John, you see that girl? She’s the director. The clue is in the name – she directs, and you do what you’re told!’ He doesn’t take direction.”

The Great British Bake Off judge revealed she has now learned to accept his instinctive spontaneity.

“I’ve given up on it – he does what he does. And you know what? It works,” she added.

In Prue Leith’s Cotswold Kitchen, John assumes a practical role where he demonstrates his countryside knowledge and provides guidance on gathering fruits and vegetables.
