New Delhi: Some Bangladeshi cattle smugglers abducted a BSF jawan on the India-Bangladesh border on early Saturday morning, December 20. The smugglers took advantage of the dense fog to take the jawan with them.

The incident occurred around 4:45 AM on Saturday at the India-Bangladesh international border in the Mekhliganj area of ​​Cooch Behar district, West Bengal. According to BSF sources, the jawan’s name is Bed Prakash, and he is posted with the 174th Battalion of the BSF and is attached to the Arjun Camp.

During their duty, the jawans noticed a herd of cattle entering Indian territory from an unguarded section of the border. While chasing away the smugglers, Bed Prakash moved slightly ahead of the other jawans.

Jawan Had Gone About 100 Meters Inside Bangladeshi Territory

According to the report, the jawan had gone about 50 to 100 meters inside Bangladeshi territory, where a BGB team on regular patrol stopped him.

Upon receiving information about the incident, the BSF Sector Commander contacted the BGB. The Bangladeshi side informed the BSF that the Indian jawan was safe and was currently at the BOP Angarpota.
