BBC radio presenter Sally Traffic was left mortified after she insulted Damian Lewis’ music to his face during Romesh Ranganathan’s show – ahead of his second album release

BBC Radio 2 legend Sally Traffic, whose real name is Sally Boazman, was left red-faced after Damian Lewis caught her insulting his music. Band of Brothers and Homeland star Damian, 55, has embarked on a career in music in recent years after being a successful actor.

He released his first album, Mission Creep, in 2023 and his second album is set to be released soon. During his interview on BBC Radio 2 about his upcoming release, titled Sweet Chaos, Sally slated his song, not realising the person singing it was right infront of her.

Appearing on Romesh Ranganathan’s show on Saturday, Sally said: “What is this dirge?” as Damian quickly responded: “This is my record.” After the studio erupted into laughter at the awkward blunder, Romesh said: “Speaking about Sweet Chaos, let’s talk about what just happened.”

While Sally begged not go over the moment, Romesh didn’t listen and recalled: “So you just walked into the room, said hello to Damian, and then what happened Sally?”

Sally, who couldn’t avoid the question, then shared: “You were playing something and I was listening and I said, “What is this dirge?’ Damian said: ‘It’s my record.'”

The TV and movie star appeared to take it well and said through laughter: “I put a lot of time and hard work into this, Sally. Into this dirge, into my rock ballads.”

Damian announced his second album earlier this week in an Instagram post. He wrote: “And as promised, here’s the 5 o’ clock news with Damian Lewis…. I am EXCITED TO TELL YOU ALL (am I shouting?) that my second album SWEET CHAOS will be released on JUNE 5th. You can pre order a copy and pre save the album on Spotify via the link in my bio. SWEET CHAOS is more in your face than my first record MISSION CREEP, which was quieter, more tender.”

He added: “SWEET CHAOS might be a bit angry. In a positive way. Anger is a positive energy if you use it well and when you make a record you never quite know how your mood has pervaded the work until you hear it back. All I know is that…. in chaos, you can find great freedom. So here is SWEET CHAOS. In all it’s sweet chaos.”

Damian’s music career comes after his wife, Helen’s sadly passed away in April 2021, after a private battle with breast cancer. She was just 52 years old when she died, reports the Express.

Damian, who was married to the Peaky Blinders actress for 14 years, has openly discussed the pain of losing her and the resilience she instilled in their children. In a heartfelt tribute published in The Times, he revealed that his wife had wished for him to find love again.

He wrote poignantly: “She’s left our beautiful children, Manon and Gully, too early, but they have been prepared for life. They have in them the fearlessness, wit, curiosity, talent and beauty of their mother. She has exhorted us to be courageous and not afraid.”

The actor added: “As she said repeatedly to the children, ‘Don’t be sad, because even though I’m about to snuff it, I’ve lived the life I wanted to’.”
