Beckham feuds’ darkest day yet as Brooklyn ignores David’s knighthood

David Beckham’s knighthood ceremony today was marred by the absence of his eldest son Brooklyn, who has been distancing himself from his family over the past year

Being knighted by King Charles after more than a decade of waiting should have been one of the proudest moments of David Beckham’s life.

But as Sir David finally received the honour at Windsor Castle, his eldest son’s absence cast a shadow over what should have been a family celebration.

Tensions between Brooklyn and his parents, David and Victoria, have reportedly been simmering for months. The rift reportedly began around Brooklyn and Nicola’s lavish 2022 wedding in Palm Beach, which was overshadowed by rumours of a falling-out between Nicola and Victoria.

Sources claimed the women had a dispute over Nicola’s choice of wedding dress, which was designed by Valentino instead of Victoria’s label.

Since then, Brooklyn’s distance from his family has only become more visible. He missed both of his father’s milestone 50th birthday celebrations in May this year.

David hosted an intimate US gathering to celebrate the occasion, as well as a star-studded London bash, but Brooklyn attended neither.

And while the rest of the Beckham clan proudly turned out for Victoria’s Paris Fashion Week show and Netflix documentary premiere, Brooklyn and Nicola were conspicuously absent.

Brooklyn was last publicly pictured with his whole family during their 2024 Christmas celebrations, but it seems like their relationship has since unravelled.

In a recent interview with The Sunday Times, Victoria subtly hinted at the ongoing rift while discussing the famous Gallagher brothers’ long feud.

She said: “I just think their mum must be so happy, it must have been really tough on the mum, the boys not talking for all those years. And I just think as a mum, that must be… she must feel so happy to see her boys getting on.”

Victoria went on to say she is “really close to the kids,” mentioning Harper, Cruz and Romeo — but not Brooklyn. Brooklyn and Nicola renewed their wedding vows this summer in a lavish ceremony attended by 200 guests, but none of them were from the Beckham family.

Even Brooklyn’s brothers Romeo and Cruz were reportedly left off the guest list after a series of online jabs, including Cruz’s lighthearted comment “Wrong brother, mate” in response to a fan poking fun at his career.

Friends of the couple insist the move wasn’t malicious, saying they’re simply “trying to make the best decisions for them in what are very unfortunate circumstances”.

One added: “The door is open. No one wants to see this kind of pain exist. There is always hope. At the end of the day, blood is thicker than water.”

But sources close to the Beckhams paint a different picture, claiming the family has “tried for months” to reach out with little success. They were reportedly “totally blindsided” to learn about the vow renewal through social media.

Brooklyn’s decision to skip his father’s knighthood ceremony will no doubt be a further painful reminder of the growing distance between him and his parents.

Earlier this month, both David and Victoria liked one of Brooklyn’s Instagram videos showing him cooking buttermilk pancakes, which fans interpreted as a quiet olive branch. However, Brooklyn does not appear to have returned the favour.
