According to multiple reports, Rahul died due to drowning in Talsari, Digha. He was shooting for his serial, Bhole Baba Par Parega. Following this, Rahul was taken to Digha Hospital, where he was declared dead. The heartbreaking news of his demise has been confirmed by his co-star, Bhaskar Banerjee. For the unversed, Priyanka shares a son, Sohoj, with Rahul. The Bengali actress has requested privacy at the moment as the process the grief. She mentioned that a child, a mother and a family are trying to navigate this tragic loss. Expressing her grief, Priyanka wrote:
“This is a time of immense grief and deep despair for us. In this difficult moment, we sincerely request space and privacy. There is a child, a mother, a family, and loved ones trying to navigate this loss together. The untimely demise of Rahul has left his family and the Bengali entertainment industry mourning. According to a report by Ananda Bazar Patrika, Rahul fell into the water of Talsari, Digha. The Bengali actor was rescued by technicians after he drowned. Initial reports pointed out that the 43-year-old actor died due to drowning, and an autopsy is scheduled to be conducted at Digha Hospital. Reportedly, Rahul was taken to Digha hospital around 6 pm on March 29, 2026, but he took his last breath before reaching the hospital. A case of unnatural death has been registered in Digha.

Bhaskar Banerjee, Rahul’s co-star from the Bengali TV soap opera, Bhole Baba Par Parega, opened up about the tragic incident. Bhaskar revealed that the tragic incident occurred after packing up. He mentioned that while the rest of the cast members went for lunch, Rahul had said that he would come back with a few more shots. Bhaskar was quoted as saying:
“He drowned. It was a tragic incident. The incident happened after packing up. However, it is not yet clear how it happened. But I can’t even imagine that something like this could happen. It’s surprising. A healthy, fresh person left like this. It’s unthinkable.”
