Bethenny Frankel is allegedly dragging her feet on being deposed in a multimillion-dollar battle over issues with her divorce … but the reality star’s lawyer adamantly denies she’s dragging it out … TMZ has learned.
According to court docs obtained by TMZ, Bethenny’s former lawyer, Jamie Schreck, claims the ‘RHONY’ alum has not been providing dates for her to be deposed … since 2022.
Jamie said Bethenny has “abandoned” the case, “failing to prosecute or do anything on it for nearly four years.” He said she has not responded to his offer to settle the case for $25K … in addition to not providing available dates to be deposed. Bethenny and her team have since engaged with the suit and dispute she ever abandoned the case.
Back in 2017, Bethenny sued Schreck for malpractice. She demanded $2 million in damages, claiming Jamie did not draft documents related to her trust properly.
Bethenny said the issues that Jamie caused her led to even more issues in her divorce with her ex-husband, Jason Hoppy. Bethenny and Jason split in 2012.
Bethenny purchased a 3-bedroom, 3-bathroom, 3,751-square-foot condo in New York in 2011 for $4.95 million. The ‘RHONY’ alum hired Jamie to help her with the purchase.
Bethenny said she used her own money to buy the home and took out a mortgage. She said Jamie did not consult with her when drafting the trust. She claimed the trust created provided her ex with 50% interest in the home.
The reality star claimed her divorce was finalized in 2016 … but the ownership of the home was “heavily litigated in the divorce proceeding, which would have been avoided but for the improper trust agreement.”
Bethenny demanded the 7-figure sum in damages as part of her lawsuit … Jamie denied all allegations of wrongdoing in response. The lawyer said when Bethenny hired him, she was still married to Jason. He said he’s not to blame for any issues and, if Bethenny suffered any damages, it would be the result of third parties, including Jason.
Her current attorney tells TMZ … they are actively engaging with the case.
