Wolves have sacked manager Vitor Pereira after their winless start to the season continued with another poor defeat at Fulham, according to multiple sources.

The 3-0 loss at Craven Cottage after an early Emmanuel Agbadou red card was Wolves’ eighth loss in 10 Premier League this season, having picked up just two points in the other two to leave them bottom.

Supporters from the away end were heard singing “you’re getting sacked in the morning” in what was the latest in notable signs of discontent at the club, with the manager clashing with fans at Molineux last week.

The Portuguese manager’s dismissal comes just weeks after signing a new three-year contract with the club despite being bottom at the time after four defeats to start the season.

Pereira’s new contract has failed to inspire an upturn in form, with Wolves the only side in England’s top four divisions without a league win this season.

After a fourth straight defeat at Fulham, Pereira said labelled the performance as “one of the worst we’ve played”, and admitted he “didn’t know why” his players were struggling so much.

He told the club’s site: “I’m disappointed today. I’m not proud of my work, of our work, because I don’t know why. I don’t know if it’s because mentally, we put a lot of energy in the last game against Chelsea until the last minute.

“But what I realised today was a very difficult game for us, tactically, technically, physically. We played maybe one of the worst games that we’ve played. Even with 11 against 11, since the first minute the energy to move, the offensive dynamic, and the energy to press was not there.

“After five minutes, I started to realise that something is missing today. But the game was balanced, because even then, they were not playing in a high level. But after the goal, we tried to do something, but not in our level. After the red card, it was very difficult for us.”
