The Wanted singer Max George was rushed to hospital on Tuesday morning, a year after having a pacemaker fitted. The star revealed he had been taken to A&E and shared a snap from his hospital bed. He wrote: “What now ffs. This sh*t ALWAYS happens in the middle of the night.”

Last month Max explained he had to have some tests after having a number of surgeries on his heart. He previously had to undergo an emergency heart operation after having a pacemaker fitted in 2024. Max said: “I am in the building where I had all my heart surgeries. I can’t say it is good to be back because it is not. I just had a scan done on my chest because I’ve had a bit of an issue with one of my lungs.” It should be fine. It is just a precaution.”

Last November Max issued a health update after he was once again rushed to hospital. At the time he called the scenario “scary”. He had been taken into hospital and underwent MRI scans just days before he was due to head out on tour last year. Speaking to the Mirror from Manchester at the time, where he joined Guides and Rangers ahead of the Big Gig Performance at OVO Arena Wembley, Max said: “I had an arrhythmia – the top half of my heart was doing 50, which it should, and the bottom was 160, it was out of sync.

“It was scary but I’m alright now. I needed medication and I’m on that now, as it keeps it stable.” An arrhythmia is an abnormal rhythm, with the heart beating too fast or too slow due to a disruption in the signals.

He went on to explain: “Getting used to life that’s a little bit different. Stuff like exercise, I have to be careful doing too much because I depend on my pacemaker.

“I have to not damage it, doing things like football, skiing, stuff that I love doing, which is hard.” He added: “It is what it is, you have to get on with it.”

And he admitted the whole issue in the first place was “crazy”. “It literally came out of nowhere,” he said. “I’ve just been on this tour in America, everything was fine, and it just happened at home. It was a massive shock, and before I knew it, I was at home with a pacemaker. You don’t really have time to think about it, to be honest.”
