Portia Featherington is played by Polly Walker in the Netflix adaptation.
Bridgerton’s Portia Featherington actress is almost unrecognisable out of costume.
Bridgerton fans are still bursting with excitement after the release of the final episodes of season four, which sealed Benedict Bridgerton (played by Luke Thompson) and Sophie Baek’s (Yerin Ha) fate.
The latest outing dropped a significant number of bombshells and, at the same time, raised a number of questions over the futures of the Bridgerton siblings.
Away from the Bridgerton family, Portia Featherington experienced a full-circle moment with her housekeeper Mrs Varley (Lorraine Ashbourne), which tugged on viewers’ heartstrings.
Lady Featherington is played by Polly Walker, a 59-year-old actress from Lancashire who received a Golden Globe Award nomination for her role in the drama series Rome.
She is also known for her roles in Prisoners’ Wives, Line of Duty and Pennyworth. Here is all you need to know about the actress’s life off-screen.
Polly was born in Warrington, Lancashire, and started her career as a dancer, but was forced to abandon dancing after a leg injury at the age of 18.
Turning her attention to acting, she attended Drama Centre London, before working at the Royal Shakespeare Company.
In October 2008, she married former actor Laurence Penry-Jones, who is the brother of the well-known Rupert Penry-Jones.
She lived in America with Laurence for several years, before moving back to London in 2015.
Laurence is best known for playing Dr Oliver Berg in more than 100 episodes of the medical soap, Doctors. His other credits include Waking the Dead, The Bill and Born and Bred.
His brother Rupert is best known for playing Adam Carter in Spooks, Clive Reader in Silk, DI Joseph Chandler in Whitechapel and Mr Quinlan in the American horror series The Strain.
Rupert is married to Irish actress Dervla Kirwan, making Dervla Polly’s sister-in-law. Kirwan is known for her roles in House of Guinness, Smother and The Stranger.
Polly’s mother-in-law and father-in-law, Angela Thorne and Peter Penry-Jones, were also famous actors.
