Britney Spears has spoken about her DUI arrest for the first time, three weeks after she was taken into custody by California Highway Patrol and held for over nine hours
Britney Spears has broken her silence on her DUI arrest, returning to social media for the first time amid her legal troubles. Britney thanked her fans for their support three weeks after she was arrested for driving under the influence.
Britney was arrested by the California Highway Patrol on 5 March on suspicion of driving under the influence. At the time, her Instagram had been deleted, but she has now returned. She posted pictures of herself at home with her 19-year-old son, Jayden, and danced next to him in a video that he filmed in the mirror.
Under the post, she wrote: “Thank you guys for all your support… Spending time with family and friends is such a blessing!!! Stay kind!!!” This came as a source explained that the singer has remained sober since her DUI arrest.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, a source said Britney had been seeking help since the incident. A source said that the singer “loves pouring her heart out as she knows that is the best way to heal and feel better.”
They added that the only drink she’s “indulged” in is “fancy coffee” and that she’s being “super careful” because she wants to be around for her children. She has two children, Jayden and Sean, 20, with her ex Kevin Federline. The source also said that the Oops I Did It Again singer was enjoying being around her sons and that being close with them again was “healing her heart”.
Britney will be in court over her DUI on 4 May. She is said to be “very sorry” and “ashamed” about her arrest. A source told Page Six that she was “incredibly emotional” following her arrest and that she was “crying and very tearful” because of it.
Her manager also told the Mirror: “This was an unfortunate incident that is completely inexcusable. Britney is going to take the right steps and comply with the law, and hopefully, this can be the first step in a long-overdue change that needs to occur in Britney’s life. Hopefully, she can get the help and support she needs during this difficult time.”
They added: “Her boys are going to be spending time with her. Her loved ones are going to come up with an overdue needed plan to set her up for success for well being.”
Her ex-husband, Sam Asghari, has also spoken about the arrest. Speaking to Piers Morgan on his show, Uncensored, Sam said: “Everybody makes mistakes.
“And if she made a mistake, I really think she’s a strong woman and she could come back from this. But I think my word is for the press to stay away from this and to be able to allow her privacy and allow her for a great recovery.”
Sam said that he wishes nothing “but the best” for Britney and will always support her well-being and believes she will “recover” from her arrest.
