Britney Spears’ manager has issued a statement after the Toxic singer was arrested for Driving Under the Influence while out and about in California
Britney Spears’ manager says the singer “needs help”. It comes after the megastar was arrested in California after being booked for Driving Under the Influence by the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office, on March 45.
Since her arrest, Spears, 44, has been allocated a booking number, with the records listing her gender as female and her race as white. Now, Britney’s manager has spoken out and insisted that the singer, who boasts six UK number one singles and eight UK top 10 albums, needs help.
In a statement shared with the Mirror, they said: “This was an unfortunate incident that is completely inexcusable. Britney is going to take the right steps and comply with the law, and hopefully, this can be the first step in a long-overdue change that needs to occur in Britney’s life. Hopefully, she can get the help and support she needs during this difficult time.

“Her boys are going to be spending time with her. Her loved ones are going to come up with an overdue plan to set her up for success for well-being.”
Britney was arrested at 9:30pm local time and detained by the Sheriff’s department around 3am local time. She was subsequently released from jail just hours later. TMZ claims that the singer was “crying a lot” when she was being booked.
Britney is yet to comment on her arrest, but her Instagram account appears to have been deactivated. Earlier today it was reported the Toxic singer, whose highs and lows have been very publicly documented, was granted a permanent restraining order against a Louisiana man after her security team claimed he showed up at her home after making “disturbing social media posts”.
It’s understood she filed court documents against the 51-year-old man, called Donald, and claimed he had been harassing her since 2013, TMZ reports. It’s understood that Donald was arrested for trespassing on her property in 2025. He has been ordered to stay 100 yards away from the singer by a court after he was found by Britney’s security, who contacted the sheriff’s department, who found the man shaking at the scene and smoking cigarettes.
Her arrest comes after she sold part of her rights to her back catalogue in February to music publisher Primary Wave for an unknown fee. The purchase came after Spears’ 13-year conservatorship, set up in 2008, which had control of her career decisions and finances, ended in 2021.
After regaining control of her career, Spears released a collaboration with Sir Elton John in 2022, and later collaborated with Black Eyed Peas member Will.i.am on a track titled Mind Your Business in 2023. In 2024, the singer said she would “never return to the music industry” and shut down speculation that a new album was on the way in a post on Instagram.
However, she recently suggested on social media that, while she wouldn’t perform again in the United States, the United Kingdom would always hold a place in her heart and that she would return to the stage there.
