Rapper Busta Rhymes (nee Trevor George Smith Jr., ) clapped back at a troll during a recent event — and it was all caught on camera.
The “I Love It” rapper, 53, appeared at Art Basel Miami over the weekend and paused to take a photo with a Gen-Z TikTok influencer. The exchange immediately got awkward.
“It’s Tracy Morgan out here,” the TikTokker said, seen in a TMZ video published on Dec. 8.
The rapper was not pleased to be mistaken for the “30 Rock” and “Saturday Night Live” alum.
“Wait, what’d you say?” he asked the young man. “I’m asking you a question, I ain’t calling you out. I don’t understand.”
The “Break Ya Neck” rapper added, “That’s the only way I can understand, by asking questions. I was taking a picture to show you love, but you trying to be funny?”
The TikTokker replied, “I’m not trying to be funny at all.”
The Grammy-nominated hip hop star replied, “What [do] you mean, ‘Tracy, my boy?’”
The prankster tried to tell him that, “everyone was saying Tracy.”
Busta replied, “I didn’t hear nobody say Tracy. You the only one who said it. You don’t play with a grown man, little boy. That’s how people get f–ked up.”
The video published on TMZ also shows Kenny Brooks, a TikTokker known as “Funny Salesman,” in the crowd. It wasn’t clear if he was participating in the prank, but he left with the TikTokker after the interaction.
In a TikTok posted Monday, the internet personality denied involvement, and said, “I don’t know what happened. I wasn’t there,” even though his presence was shown on camera in TMZ’s video.
One Reddit comment proclaimed the video of the incident to be “hard to watch,” while another person remarked, “Yeah, I see it. Gotta know who you’re talking to though.”
“Not a fan of these garbage creators but busta rhymes does have a little of Tracy Morgan in him and apparently takes himself way too seriously,” another comment read.
Another person remarked, “I would never have gotten them confused, but I’m just realizing for the first time that Busta Rhymes does have a little Tracy Morgan, je-ne-sais-quoi, about him.”
