Geometric designs and punchy use of colour create a home that’s a feast for the eyes.

Eryca Green: “I want my home to reflect where I am in my life. To breathe a sigh of relief when I close the door. It’s not about impressing anyone other than myself.”

The home
A renovated, two-bedroom, early 2000s apartment in Melbourne’s inner north.

Who lives here
Eryca Green, a multidisciplinary creative.

What I did
“I had help from designer Julia Cox of jcHQ,” says Green. “She redesigned the kitchen, changed the flooring to porcelain tiles and created a layout to accommodate the unique collection of furniture I’ve amassed while working for years at Smith Street Bazaar.”

Favourite room
“It feels like one big room to me; it’s a peaceful sanctuary,” Green says.

The ’hood
“I really love this area as it has everything I need – a cinema, bookshop, restaurants – and I can walk to the city and parks.”

Future plans
“Only to fine-tune my endless collections and prevent myself from over-burdening the space – but don’t hold me to that,” says Green.

Best advice
“Own only what you love, not trends; that way you won’t have to redecorate next season,” she says. “Also, paint is your friend. All of my colours came from a Porter’s Paints shop nearby.”
