NEW DELHI: The CBI on Wednesday apprehended a medicine specialist at Bhagwan Mahavir Hospital in Delhi’s Pitampura and a contractual staffer for allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹1 lakh to favour a complainant in tender-related matters.
According to the agency, the doctor, who also served as the nodal officer for outsourcing in the hospital’s medicine department, allegedly demanded the money to ensure that an awarded tender was not cancelled, bills were cleared on time and adverse remarks were not recorded in the complainant’s file.
The CBI registered a case against the doctor on Wednesday and laid a trap.
The agency said it caught the doctor red-handed while accepting the bribe through a contractual supervisor working as a nursing orderly at the hospital.
Both accused were apprehended and are being interrogated, the CBI said.
