Lewis Hamilton has confessed that he is yet to give his Ferrari team-mate Charles Leclerc a wedding present.
The Monegasque driver married Alexandra Saint Mleux in a private civil wedding in Monaco on 28 February, before celebrating at a bigger wedding event with their close friends and family next year.
Hamilton was quizzed about what he gifted the newlyweds during the drivers’ press conference in Australia, the Briton admitted that he will likely wait six months before choosing a gift.
“I’ve never been married, so I definitely haven’t given him any advice,” the seven-time champion said. “I haven’t gotten a wedding gift yet. I usually delay myself when it comes to gifts like that, so maybe six months in I’ll give it to him.”
In a separate media session, Leclerc was asked if he had any requests from his team-mate. “Well in six months time it will be the end of the season, so probably a title will be nice. But I’m not sure he will be willing to give me a title.
“So yeah, whatever it is… It’s super nice. It’s a very important moment of my life, and we spoke about it briefly with Lewis, and it’s those moments that are outside of racing, but that will remain one of the most important moments of my life, so it was really nice.”
The couple were spotted in Monaco behind the wheel a vintage 1957 Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa, with the Monegasque driver in a pale suit and Saint Mleux in a wedding gown and a white bouquet. Saint Mleux later confirmed their marriage by changing her name to Alexandra Leclerc on social media before the couple shared photos from the occasion.
“A day we’ll forever remember. Part one is done and part two will be next year with all of our close ones,” Leclerc shared on Instagram.
