Chiraiya Ending Explained: A Powerful Social Drama, Hard-Hitting Tale Of Consent And Marital Abuse

The new series, Chiraiya, is everything the binge watchers can talk about. Released on March 20, 2026, the series is a social drama which revolves around the shattered marital life of the new bride, ‘Pooja’, after her husband, ‘Arun’, ignores her wishes. The show explores the subjects of marital rape while shedding light on the lack of voice of women in several homes.

The topic of consent becomes a bigger topic than just inside the walls of their bedroom, as ‘Kamlesh’ questions the society that has failed to keep the women around them safe. What begins as a happy and perfect home of ‘Kamlesh’ soon shatters when she realises how her own mentality has contributed to the events that follow. However, was she able to rectify her mistakes, or did the social norms stifle her voice, and, more importantly, what happened between ‘Pooja’ and ‘Arun’? Let’s find out.

Chiraiya sheds light on the importance of consent

The series is a social drama thriller which revolves around the themes of marital rape and non-consensual abuse, topics which remain largely ignored, not just in Indian society but worldwide. The series reflects on how, despite being a well-educated family, no one understands the misery of the new bride, ‘Pooja’, except for ‘Kamlesh’, who, as a contrast to her in-laws, is only a high school graduate. The show draws a comparison between the true brothers, ‘Vinay’ and ‘Arun’.

While ‘Vinay’ is respectful and supportive of his wife, he lacks the courage to speak up. On the other hand, there’s ‘Arun’, who believes that, as a ‘man’, he has the right to everything he wants, including his wife’s body. According to IMDb’s gist for Chiraiya, this series follows:

“Kamlesh’s world as a devoted wife and daughter-in-law shatters when her new sister-in-law confides a disturbing secret about her wedding night, forcing Kamlesh to confront uncomfortable truths within her own family.”

Chiraiya ending explained: Do ‘Pooja’ and ‘Kamles’ get justice for the new bride?

Towards the end of the social drama, Chiraiya, we see ‘Pooja’ take an extreme decision against her husband ‘Arun’s’ repeated sexual assaults by slashing her external genitalia. However, after witnessing ‘Pooja’s’ condition in the hospital, ‘Kamlesh’ finally breaks down and accepts the reality she has been trying to ignore. This desperate act shatters the family’s silence.

However, ‘Kamlesh’ and ‘Pooja’s’ father-in-law, a man who otherwise seemed extremely righteous, attempts to suppress the scandal to protect his reputation. ‘Kamlesh’ decides to stand up for the truth and seek justice for ‘Pooja’. She undergoes a moral awakening and chooses sisterhood over patriarchal tradition, and stops being a silent bystander. As they leave the abusive household, ‘Pooja’ is forced to come back home when her father stages a suicide, and emotionally blackmails her to go back to her in-laws.

Even ‘Pooja’ and ‘Kamlesh’s’ attempt to seek justice is met with a hurdle, given that there is no law against marital rape. Eventually, they take the social route by disclosing the truth to their neighbourhood. While ‘Arun’ tries to apologise for his actions, ‘Pooja’ refuses to forgive him, while the women in the family walk away owning their truths.
