Christine McGuinness has opened up on her love life and relationship status as she spoke about dating with an autism diagnosis

Christine McGuinness has revealed her autism diagnosis has had an effect on her love life. The model, 37, is back in the dating world following her split from ex-husband Paddy McGuinness in 2022 after 11 years married.

The duo continued to live together to co-parent their three kids – all of who have also been diagnosed with the condition. And now, the model has candidly opened up about living with autism as a single parent.

Speaking to Gethin Jones and Gaby Roslin on Morning Live on Thursday, Christine joked she had to enter the dating world as it’s “part of my job now”.

But on a serious note, when Gethin asked her about her thoughts of dating with autism, she added: “I think about it a lot. I think about it for my children too.

“I have the same worries and thoughts [will they date]. Are they going to be okay as they get older? For now, they are little so I don’t need to worry too much, but for me myself as an adult and being quite new to dating, I still struggle with it.

“I think I find myself explaining, but it helps if I explain and if I let somebody know that I’m autistic and might not be comfortable in a new restaurant or a bar I haven’t been to before.”

She went on: “I find that that now is absolutely necessary for me to say rather than to just go and be in a place that I don’t really like or don’t feel comfortable. If it’s too lively, if it’s too busy, then the date doesn’t go well.

“It’s kind of no really giving the date a chance if I’m not honest about what I do and don’t like.”

She was opening up about her podcast, Situationships, that she hosts with Sophie Gravia, which she says helps people who are dating people but not in a relationship just yet – or family life – calling it a “grey area”. And the pair will be discussing accessibility in dating, with Christine saying it really helps her to talk about it.

As well as the podcast, the Blackpool-born star recently stripped down to a tiny string bikini on her Subs platform. She invited her paying viewers to watch her “full sauna and ice bath experience”.

She was one of the first celebs to set up a paid-for Subs Original account after it launched last year. And now, according to a source, she is hoping she can use it to “relaunch” herself now the dust has settled following her divorce from Paddy McGuinness.

“She has worked really hard on her body and she has a phenomenal figure because she’s been training hard,” the source told the Mirror. “She loves looking good and making money and being in control, and this is a new way for her to do that on her own terms.”
