Claudia Winkleman found herself rushing to apologise after she accidentally swore on the radio in front of a school child who had been on air asking her questions

Claudia Winkleman was left red faced when she accidentally swore in front of a child live on air. The TV personality was appearing on Heart Breakfast alongside Amanda Holden and Jamie Theakston on Friday as a school pupil interviewed her on the show.

Claudia, 54, believed that Finley, who had called in to the show to chat to her, was no longer on the line when she made the gaffe. Claudia was heard jokingly saying “f*** sake” when Jamie and Amanda told the audience that The Traitors host would still be with them on air following a short break.

Claudia then had a moment of horror as she realised that they were still on air, and young Finley was still on the line. She began profusely apologising as Finley assured her it was fine and no harm was done, while the studio erupted in laughter.

It comes as Claudia poked fun at herself over her new chat show which suffered a backlash. Claudia branded the show “awful” as she jokingly refused to talk about it following the backlash. The presenter’s self-titled BBC chat show programme aired for the first time last weekend, featuring guests Jeff Goldblum, Vanessa Williams, Jennifer Saunders and Tom Allen.

During the show, many viewers flocked to social media to share their thoughts, with reviews a mix of good and bad. Some critics praised the presenter for her “warmth” and “wit” with the guests, while others claimed the 45-minute long chat show, rivalling the likes of The Graham Norton Show and The Jonathan Ross Show, was “boring”.

Ahead of her second show returning to screens on Friday evening Claudia made her true feelings clear about her new project live on the Heart Radio Breakfast Show. Talking to Jamie and Amanda she jokingly said she didn’t want to discuss it and tried to change the subject.

“I’m not having this conversation,” she told the hosts. “The first one was so awful.” After Amanda and Jamie reassured her that this wasn’t the case, she joked: “Everyone needs to stop speaking and listen to aunty Claud.”

Addressing a moment from the show that seemingly left her embarrassed, she continued: “I clapped a man for moving his ears.”

In an attempt to shift the conversation, Claudia went on to talk about her recent involvement with Crufts, before Jamie reminded her that she was on the programme to promote her chat show.

“If you mention it again, I’m going to get violent,” she joked in response. “I suggest people don’t watch [it]. There’s only a few more, let’s pretend it never happened,” Claudia added.

Continuing to mock herself, she continued: “You ever had that? People come round for dinner and you make something disgusting and you go, ‘Never mind, thank you’ and give them a little handshake and you go, ‘Let’s wipe it’. You know the machine in Men In Black? The end.”
