Coleen Rooney was left ‘hurt’ after husband Wayne was seen partying with a mystery woman last week while attending a pre-BRIT Awards party in Manchester
Devastated Coleen Rooney has been left ”humiliated and hurt” after husband Wayne was snapped partying alongside two mystery women in the bar of a Manchester hotel.
The mum-of-four, 39, was seen looking glum as she ran errands in Cheshire last Monday – with her wedding ring nowhere to be seen. Less than 48 hours earlier, former Manchester United striker Wayne was seen letting his hair down with a group of pals – including pop star Calum Scott and the two women – sparking concern for his relationship with long-suffering Coleen.
The ex-England star, 40, was attending a pre-Brit Awards party, and according to onlookers, looked “worse for wear”. At one point, he reportedly “struggled to keep his trousers up” after a trip to the toilet. It’s not the first time party-loving Wayne has been caught enjoying the company of other women. The BBC football pundit hit the headlines way back in 2004 after it was reported he’d cheated on Coleen with a 21-year-old prostitute.

It was also reported that he’d visited a £45-a-session brothel. Wayne later admitted he’d been “foolish”, adding, “I now regret it deeply and hope people may understand that it was the sort of mistake you make when you are young and stupid.” Although nothing inappropriate is believed to have occurred during last week’s drinking session, for Coleen it could reopen old wounds.
“Coleen is sick to the back teeth – she’s absolutely livid,” says our source, who also claims that Coleen is aware Wayne is a sitting target for girls – which is why she’s disappointed by this latest episode.
“She’s really cross with him this time,” says the source. “She believes it was innocent, but in the eyes of the world, it looks murky and she feels humiliated and hurt about it all, especially at such a key moment in her career.”
Last week’s headline-grabbing incident couldn’t have come at a worse time for Coleen, who launched her very first clothing range with Primark last Thursday. While the event may have been overshadowed by talk of Wayne’s night out, Coleen appeared at the launch with her wedding ring on and seemed to be happy and relaxed.
“She’s done so well since I’m A Celeb – she’s working with high-profile brands – and now this has left a nasty taste in her mouth,” we’re told. “She’s worried she could lose everything she’s worked so hard to achieve.”
The pre-Brits booze-up is all the more of a blow given that Wayne – who once admitted he drank “for two days straight” – appeared to have turned a corner. He recently spoke of the support Coleen has always given him, even crediting her with saving his life.
In a brutally honest interview with his old Man Utd teammate Rio Ferdinand last year he said, “I honestly believe if she wasn’t there I’d be dead.” But he also confessed he’s always “loved a night out” – something that’s landed him in hot water on numerous occasions.
“[Coleen’s] seen it very early on, and she’s controlled that. Well, not controlled, but helped me control that massively,” he said. “I’ve made mistakes in the past, which are well documented and whatever, but I’m a little bit different at times and she keeps me on that path. She’s done it for 20-odd years.”
Despite the past betrayals during the couple’s 17-year marriage, Coleen has repeatedly stuck by her husband – something relationship expert Teresha Young says could be down to their shared financial ties as well as wanting to stay strong for their four sons, Kai, 16, Klay, 12, Kit, 10, and eight-year-old Cass.
But she says the strain can push some couples to breaking point. “When leaving feels like it would compromise stability, lifestyle, or the well-being of children, it can create a sense of feeling stuck,” says Teresha. “Over time, this can lead to resentment and emotional distance within the relationship.”
Those close to Coleen say the fact Wayne was such a rock during her infamous Wagatha Christie court case, which saw her battle fellow WAG Rebekah Vardy after Coleen accused her of leaking stories, makes this recent lapse even more difficult.
Our source says, “She’s tried so hard to build trust with Wayne and get to a good place. He’d been so supportive with her over the Vardy court case and her TV career – and now this.” However, our source adds that this latest issue is not likely to be something that will break the couple.
“Coleen and Wayne’s marriage has weathered much tougher storms than this and they are strong as a couple and will work through this. They love each other very much and their priority is always their children.”
