The much-awaited second season of Farzi is officially in motion. Marking the crime thriller’s third anniversary on February 10, directors Raj Nidimoru and Krishna D.K. confirmed that work on Season 2 has begun, sharing a cryptic teaser image of counterfeit currency stamped with the message “Round 2 in progress.”

The update signals a return to the high-stakes world introduced in the first season, which followed Shahid Kapoor’s Sunny, a gifted artist drawn into counterfeiting and his cat-and-mouse chase with law enforcement led by Vijay Sethupathi’s Michael. The show emerged as a streaming phenomenon after its 2023 debut, clocking an estimated 37.1 million viewers and becoming the most-watched Hindi web series on subscription platforms, according to industry data.

While plot specifics remain under wraps, Kapoor recently hinted at stepping back into character, fuelling speculation that principal photography could begin in March 2026. The ensemble is expected to include returning cast members Vijay Sethupathi, Raashii Khanna, Bhuvan Arora and Kay Kay Menon, with the narrative likely to push beyond physical counterfeiting into newer financial crimes tied to a digitised economy.

Fans are also eager to see how the series bridges into the “Spy Universe,” potentially crossing paths with characters from The Family Man or Gulkanda Tales.

Season one closed on a tense note, with Sunny fleeing escalating threats and leaving audiences with unresolved conflicts. Season two is poised to explore the emotional fallout of his choices while expanding the scale of the world Raj & DK created. With extensive post-production and multilingual dubbing typical of the creators’ projects, the new instalment is tentatively eyed for a late-2026 or early-2027 streaming debut.
