Conor McGregor and his long-term Dee Devlin will tie the knot today after being together for 17 years – but their romance hasn’t been without its ups and downs
Conor McGregor’s soon-to-be wife Dee Devlin has stood by the multi-millionaire for over 15 years from his rise to superstardom to his spectacular fall from grace.
The pair first met in a Dublin nightclub where Dee was working back in 2008. At the time McGregor didn’t have a job but had dreams of becoming a UFC fighter. Fast forward to 2025 and that dream is more than a reality. The 37-year-old mixed martial arts fighter, who goes by the name The Notorious, is widely thought of the biggest and most recognisable UFC star of all time.
He now has unimaginable wealth and is thought to be worth over £150 million from his fights and various business ventures, including a whiskey brand (since sold), his own Irish stout and hip hop label, Greenback records, which launched in 2024.
Off the back of that McGregor and Dee enjoy a lavish life with their four kids – sons Conor Jnr, eight, Rian, four, and Mack, two. The couple also have a six-year-old daughter Croia, whose name means ‘heart’ in Irish.
But away from his career and family life, devout Catholic McGregor has hit the headlines for the wrong reasons. As he prepares to marry fiancée Dee today – in the Vatican – we look back on his controversies over the years from cheating to a shocking rape case.

Cheating allegations
There have been a number of reports of McGregor being unfaithful to Dee, some of which he’s admitted.
Back in 2017 – around the time his first child with Dee was born – he was even accused of fathering a child with a woman he met on a night out in Liverpool. Terri Murray claimed her daughter Clodagh was born nine months after she slept with McGregor. Though McGregor was photographed on a night out with the woman, he denied sleeping with her and claimed it was a friend. A DNA test later proved he wasn’t the father.
Sexual assault claims and rape case
More worrying than the cheating claims is the amount of times McGregor has been accused of sexually assaulting women.
In 2018, he was accused of raping a woman in a Dublin hotel room. Though the police didn’t pursue the case, Nikita Hand waived her right to anonymity to bring a civil case against the UFC fighter.
The case wasn’t heard until 2024. Ms Hand testified she thought she was going to die after McGregor put her in a chokehold and threatened to kill her during the encounter. A paramedic who had examined her the following day testified that they had never seen such intense bruising.
McGregor denied the allegations – with Dee standing by him at court every day – but he was found guilty in the civil action and ordered to pay Ms Hand £200,000 in damages. In July 2025, he lost an appeal against the ruling.
In 2020, McGregor was arrested on the French island of Corsica for alleged indecent exposure and sexual assault in a bar. He spent two days in custody before police said there was a lack of sufficient evidence for criminal prosecution.
Another woman claimed McGregor sexually assaulted her following a Miami Heat basketball game in June 2023. But the case was dropped in December 2025, just a week before he was due to marry Dee.
Alleged attack on woman in Ibiza
In 2022, McGregor was accused of attacking a woman in her 40s on a yacht in Ibiza after partying at ocean Beach Club for his 34th birthday.
The unidentified woman, said to know McGregor from Dublin, claimed he became verbally abusive before allegedly punching and kicking her. She claimed he said he would drown her. She said this led her to jump off the yacht fearing for her life. She was later picked up by a Red Cross boat.
McGregor said he was “steadfast in his denial of the allegations” in a statement released by his spokesperson. He was not charged over the alleged incident.
Kissing woman on beach before wedding
Though it’s their wedding day today, Dee has had to deal with the heartbreaking accusations that McGregor has allegedly been cheating again after he was pictured kissing a mystery woman on a beach in Florida.
In July 2025 he was spotted jet skiing before cuddling up to an unknown dark-haired woman – who was not his long-term partner Dee.
But instead of addressing it, Dee took to social media to share a photo of herself with McGregor as they celebrated his 37th birthday. The post said: “Happy Birthday to the person who always keeps Dee entertained and makes her smile.”
McGregor recently opened up about their wedding plans, expressing his eagerness to tie the knot with Devlin. He said: “My lady is my long-time lady. We are set to get married soon, we are just trying to find a location. I am ready to go; we are just trying to get a location.”
And that location is reportedly the historic Chiesa di Santo Stefano Degli Abissini, just behind the Basilica of St Peter on the way to the Vatican Gardens. Sources inside the Vatican say the Church of St Stephen of the Abyssinians has been booked for the intimate wedding, according to the Irish Independent.
Vatican weddings are rare, reserved for very specific circumstances and require special coordination with authorities. The paper reports how senior Vatican figures have expressed their concern over the appropriateness of making the church available to McGregor following his past behaviour.
