Wild footage has emerged after the riot squad were called to a house in Sydney, Australia’s south on Friday night after hundreds of people gatecrashed a 16-year-old’s birthday party.
Officers were called to a house on Bounty Ave in Kirrawee about 7:15pm Friday after reports that about 500 people had gatecrashed a birthday party.
Wild footage from social media showed hundreds of teenagers walking through the street as police arrived on the scene.
Officers could then be seen rushing to a person before pinning them to the ground, pushing away others who tried to intervene.
Footage from the party showed the revelers running away as officers attempted to disperse the crowd.
The riot squad, police helicopters and officers rushed to the street trying to get the crashers to leave, but were met with pushback from some of the revelers.
Wild footage showed a police helicopter circling the Sydney suburb, with a spotlight projected onto the streets.
Police allege some gatecrashers threw bottles at officers, who were forced to deploy pepper spray.
It took more than an hour for officers to disperse the crowd.
Three 16-year-old boys were arrested but later released pending further inquiries.
“There were no reports of any injuries,” a police statement read.
Anyone who was in the area at the time, has dashcam or CCTV footage is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800-333-000.
