Blur frontman Damon Albarn left TV host Graham Norton slightly red faced after he asked why he was never invited back on the show since his ‘bored’ appearance back in 2015

Awkward Damon Albarn interview with Graham Norton from 2015

Blur singer Damon Albarn left chat show host Graham Norton in an awkward position when he put him on the spot to ask him why he had never been invited back on his BBC show, since his last appearance in 2015. The singer, 57, was invited as a guest on the show alongside Stephen Graham, Kaley Cuoco, Adrian Lester and Leo Woodall, to promote his upcoming Gorillaz tour.

But his question sparked a discussion among viewers who reposted a YouTube clip of Damon looking incredibly “bored” by Graham and the nature of the show. At the time Damon was joined by his former Blur bandmates including Alex James, Graham Coxon and Dave Rowntree, in the 2015 episode

After performing their track Lonesome Street, viewers noticed that Damon looked as if he wanted to “leave”. They also claimed that “he is always so sulky on then show.” At one point in the interview Damon is seen with his head in his hands despite the fact the rest of his bandmates were clearly enjoying the banter with Graham Norton.

One viewer said: “Damon is always so sulky on this show, he just wants to perform and LEAVE!!! lol, whenever he laughs I need to rewind cause I’m not sure if my eyes were lying to me.” Another added: “Can’t deal with the way Damon looks at Graham.”

Meanwhile a third person said: “it’s obvious damon doesn’t like this kind of set up though i really enjoy both blur and graham norton he was laughing a bit at the interview but then when it came to the red chair, he was off it.”

This week however, Damon appeared more engaged as he spoke about his upcoming tour which will end at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in June. During their chat, Damon is seen telling Graham: “You haven’t invited me back.” In response, the BBC talk show host said: “Well, you’re here now.”

Continuing the chat in order to get his point across, Damon added: “I remember the last time I came back and told you in a nightclub… you remember?”

“What? I was in a nightclub?, ” Graham jokingly asked. “Yeah, I was in a nightclub with you and I was like, ‘Why am I never on your show?'” Damon continued.

But clearly uneasy with the conversation, Graham claimed that he had “no recollection” of their night out and quipped that he must have been “quite drunk.”

He then added: “Yes, it must have. How funny. I may have blanked it from my mind out of awkwardness.”

The awkward exchange comes after the singer was seen enjoying time with a female friend in August, two years after his split with his long-term partner Suzie Winstanley.

Back in 2023, it was reported by the Mail on Sunday that Damon and Suzie had called time on their 25 year long relationship. The couple share a daughter together, Missy, 25.

It was claimed at the time that the pair struggled to deal with his gruelling travel schedule and his need to spend a portion of his time at their home in Devon, where he had a recording studio.

A close pal told the publication at the time: “Suzi was so heartbroken that she hardly told anyone. She really, really tried but the relationship just could not be saved. It has been so sad for her, I suppose once you share news like that around it makes it all very final.”
