As Danniella Westbrook awaits more facial surgery, a source tells Mirror that her pain is so great she’s ‘struggling to sleep’ and has been left terrified of future surgeries
She recently showed off the results of her latest cosmetic surgery, but while Danniella Westbrook is thrilled with her fresh new look, sources say she is living in fear as she prepares to undergo three further procedures.
The former EastEnders star, 52, returned from Dubai last month, where she had a full face, neck and brow lift. But despite posting a sun-drenched snap of herself looking happy post-op, we’re told that behind closed doors, the star is finding things hard.
“She’s struggling to breathe and sleep after the surgery,” says a source. “She’s been breaking down in tears and has been eating through a straw. Each day there is a little improvement, but obviously it has been painful. She’s tired of all the operations.”

Last week Danniella put a positive spin on her latest ordeal, captioning her snap, “Three more nose operations to go. So we’re over half way there now… Facelift has really changed me and given me my confidence back.” But our source says the prospect of future surgery and the associated risks means the former soap star is crippled by anxiety.
“She’s not like Katie Price, who thrives on having surgery and gets really excited – Danniella dreads it,” says our source. “She is terrified of every op, but she needs to get back to work.”
Danniella has previously opened up about her fear of going under the knife, despite once being a big fan of altering her body. “When I was younger I used to love plastic surgery,” she admitted in 2022. “I had my boobs done six times and thought I was invincible. But now every time I go under anaesthetic I’m praying, ‘Please let me wake up.’
“When you get older you see the risks for what they are.” The star has spent more than a decade trying to “fix” her face – including an op last summer that used cartilage from her rib to rebuild her nose – after cocaine addiction left her features ravaged.
The actress first became hooked on drugs after shooting to fame as EastEnders’ Sam Mitchell aged just 14. She estimates she’s spent a staggering £250,000 on cocaine. Her habit famously led to the collapse of her nose after her septum – the cartilage separating the nostrils – fell out.
Four years ago she was rushed to A&E after she was unable to breathe due to a build-up of fluid while suffering from a cold. “I need this surgery to survive,” she said. “It’s not for vanity – this is about my health.”
Danniella’s last procedures were carried out by Dubai-based surgeon Dr Parviz Sadigh, who she says has “worked miracles” after she failed to find the right treatment in the UK.
Last month Danniella was seen after her latest operation in a wheelchair, looking swollen and bruised and with a facial compression garment wrapped around her head.
Despite her fear of having more work done, our source says Danniella sees it as the only way forward if she’s ever to rebuild her life and career.
She had been due to star in a new movie, Tales From The Trap – which also features Love Island ’s Liv Hawkins – but was forced to pull out after she was rushed to hospital last December with breathing difficulties.
“She won’t be happy unless she looks beautiful again and while she’s terrified of more surgery, she needs to look right,” says our source. “She wants to start rebuilding her face and building a career with it. It gives her anxiety, but she knows that for a happy life, she needs to look right.
“She very active and likes to be busy, but right now she’s got to rest up and take it easy.” To add to her pain, Danniella has been brutally trolled over her looks. Last year, opening up about the abuse she receives online, she said, “No trolling or jokes directed at me will ever make me give up.”
She added, “I may have abused my body, taken drugs and made bad choices, upset people I love and let them down and unfortunately I can’t make the wrongs I’ve done right. So I tolerate every joke and every abusive comment. Today I don’t have time to get down or depressed, I am grateful and happy and stepping into very exciting prospects with different ventures I’m doing.”
She continued, “I may not be that pretty little thing that was once Sam Mitchell back in 1989… but I am happy and for that I count my blessings.”
While she might be feeling nervous ahead of further operations, our source says Danniella is feeling more optimistic than she has in years.
“She’s got faith that, this time, she’ll get the face she wants. The other ones haven’t quite worked out the way she wanted, but she’s got faith in this guy in Dubai who’s a top facial surgeon. She’s just hoping that this is it.”
A separate source close to the star told us, “Danniella is over the moon with the results of her latest surgery. It was far more reconstructive than cosmetic, as the surgeons first had to rebuild the foundations to create facial symmetry before the nasal reconstruction could work. She’s incredibly grateful – especially as other surgeons were unwilling to attempt such a complex procedure.”
