Former EastEnders star Danny Dyer has made a string of surprising comments slamming misogyny during a question and answer event for his newest movie One Last Deal

Danny Dyer says society has ‘regressed’ as he shared concerns over the rise of misogyny in a string of surprising new comments.

The former EastEnders actor, 48, made his feelings clear in new surprising comments as he said he urged people to “look after people more”. The actor’s comments come amid rising concern over the Manosphere after Louis Theroux’s new Netflix documentary shed light on the dark corners of the internet where male influencers with misogynistic views thrive.

Speaking at a Q&A event for his new movie One Last Deal, which was released at the end of last week, Danny – who recently admitted to asking Jarod Bowen for a dance at his wedding to daughter Dani – said: “I think young men should be watching films like this to learn about misogyny and about the idea of men turning their blind eye to f**king rape and f**king, you know, men treating women in a certain way.

“There’s a lot of that in this f**king film, it’s quite deep, but what you’re doing is you’re limiting your audience with an 18, and I just find that really… I don’t know why the f**k that is,” he said, lamenting over the rating of his movie. Danny later continued over the importance of younger men seeing the movie: “I swear a little bit, but it’s just quite f**king heavy s**t I’m talking about here, and it’s almost like we are alluding to what’s happening in the world at the moment – it’s a lot of misogyny, we’re sort of regressed as human beings slightly in that sense.” He continued: “We’ve got to look after each other more, you know what I mean? We’ve got to call it out a bit, and he does at the end, Jimmy, thank f**k, you know what I mean?,” he says of his character in the movie.

Danny latest project sees him starring in a a one-man movie about Jimmy Banks, a brash football agent whose life is on the edge of turning upside down when he receives a sinister phone call blackmailing him over some voice notes.

The actor’s comments come in the wake of increased scrutiny over misogyny in recent days due to the release of Louis Theroux’s documentary, Inside The Manosphere, which came out last week. The Netflix hit shed light on the growing network of male influencers on the internet sharing extreme content and opinions online in a bid to redefine masculinity in modern society.

Andrew Tate, HS TikkyTokky, Ed Matthews and others feature in the eye-opining documentary, which has received rave reviews for shedding light on a dark corner of the internet which is having an increasing impact on the young men growing up today. Since its release, the documentary has been a huge talking point, with parents admitting they’re ‘terrified’ after watching the flick, with one saying: “Watching this now and I am speechless. As a mum of four boys it is terrifying. Had to watch in stages as these people are beyond belief! I’d be so ashamed if I was their parent. Going to watch again with my 2 sons.”

Another added: “Fantastic work! Thank you for shedding light on a world that many parents of teen and young adult sons have been worrying about, let alone understand it,” whilst a third wrote: “Watched it today, it was uncomfortable watching. Great documentary but it makes me worry about the type of world my little boy will grow up in!'”
