David Beckham lands a series of huge partnerships ahead of the World Cup in the States this summer as insiders say he is earning more in retirement than at the peak of his playing career

Sir David Beckham has already signed a staggering $25million worth of World Cup deals ahead of this summer’s tournament in America. The 50-year-old star has penned a series of lucrative contracts as insiders say he is earning more in retirement than at the peak of his playing career. He has partnered with brands and businesses including Lays chips, Fanatics trading cards, Bank of America and Verizon.

We can also reveal he is starring in both McDonalds and Adidas World Cup ads. His total earnings this year however will be “many times over” that figure as many deals form part of “multi-year” partnerships, as well as his existing sponsorship agreements But a pal said: “Incredibly his audience is growing , especially in South America and the US because of his career in Spain and his Miami club….he is more in demand than ever.”

David, who played for clubs such as Manchester United, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain, is going to attend the World Cup both as an ambassador for his various partners, but also in his capacity as a former England captain. A source said that he has maintained an excellent relationship with the FA and is “hugely supportive” of the team and the players.

The partnerships will also help “supercharge” his commitment to help build soccer in the US, alongside his Miami team. His deal with Bank of America for instance aims to get more kids in the States playing soccer. A source said: “This is a hugely important aspect of signing these deals….he is incredibly passionate about opening up soccer to all.”

News of the new deals come after the Mirror revealed in January how he was set to earn nearly £300million from a huge new scent deal. The former England captain inked a 20-year contract that insiders say is worth £14.6million a year, a total of £292million.

An inside source said at the time: “Brand Beckham is well and truly booming. The fact this is over 20 years shows just how much confidence there is in the brand.” Becks has turned over more than $1billion in sales with his fragrance over the past 20 years.

His exclusive agreement with Interparfums, Inc was struck by Authentic Brands Group, the US-based intellectual property giant which manages his name worldwide and in which he has shares. The business has been a “game-changer” for Beckham in opening up new business opportunities. A source said: “It’s amazing when you think about it…. he is long retired, but his earning power is greater now than it was when he was playing.”
