David and Victoria Beckham are no longer following their estranged son Brooklyn on Instagram, with the dad previously admitting to becoming totally “paranoid”
The bitter rift between David and Victoria Beckham and their eldest son Brooklyn appears to be deepening with no resolution in sight, with the pair no longer following their estranged son Brooklyn on Instagram
Brooklyn, 26, and his wife Nicola Peltz, 30, were notably absent from David’s extravagant and celebrity-packed 50th birthday bash in May, and the pair stayed tight-lipped following the announcement that the former England captain has at last secured his coveted knighthood.
It seemed like reconciliation might have been on the cards after Victoria showed a stocking she’d put up on Instagram for Brooklyn. However, the relationship has been tense for a while, with sources labelling Nicola – whose father is billionaire Nelson Peltz as “spoiled”, while allies of the actress hit back against what they call “one-sided and false claims”.

In an exclusive chat with the Mirror, friends revealed: “Nicola doesn’t deny she’s had a fortunate life, and she’s grateful for it. But she’s also been working for over 20 years, and now writes, directs, and produces her own projects. Her parents are proud to support their children, and the idea that this reflects poorly on them simply doesn’t hold up.”
They added: “Calling her spoiled is false. For her wedding, she requested donations to support Ukraine instead of gifts, and she runs Yogi’s House, a rescue that saves dogs from euthanasia in shelters. These one-sided and false attacks have gotten out of hand.”
Reports differ on the origins of the family fallout, with some suggesting the friction first emerged around the time of Nicola and Brooklyn’s 2022 nuptials. Brooklyn and Nicola’s recent purchase of a new LA pad has reportedly been a “dagger in the heart” for Victoria and David, according to insiders.
Yet in the 2023 Netflix series – Beckham – the former England captain made a poignant confession about his eldest lad that predates their current distance, revealing the profound depth of his paternal affection for Brooklyn.
David reflected on the period following Brooklyn’s arrival in 1999, which came during an incredibly turbulent chapter in his football career. During the 1998 World Cup clash between England and Argentina, David infamously saw red for lashing out at Diego Simeone – sparking nationwide fury as fans held him responsible for the team’s exit from the crucial tournament.
The episode left him “clinically depressed” he confessed, and actually happened shortly after Victoria had told him she was expecting their first baby. When Brooklyn arrived several months on, David was still battling his demons, and the torrent of public vitriol he faced left him petrified for his newborn boy and “paranoid” that harm might come to baby Brooklyn. “What I went through was so extreme. The whole country hated me. Hated me. It changed my life. I felt very vulnerable and alone. Wherever I went I got abuse every single day,” David recalled.
“People look at you in a certain way, spit at you, abuse you, come up to your face and say some of the things that they said. That was difficult.”
The evening Brooklyn arrived, David found himself unable to rest or even stay near his wife and newborn son, consumed by fears that someone might harm the infant as revenge against him. “That night, Brooklyn slept next to Victoria, Victoria was like, come and squeeze on the bed with me, and I said, absolutely not. I’m sleeping with my head against the door because I was paranoid someone was going to steal him. It’s meant to be a happy moment, and it was of course, but I was worried. I didn’t want him to come into this life at a time where I was going through what I was going through.”
