David Harbour was absent as Maya Hawke and Christian Lee Hutson, with the 50-year-old Stranger Things star instead on a Valentine’s Day date with a mystery woman
There was a rare off-screen gathering of the Stranger Things cast when Maya Hawke and Christian Lee Hutson tied the knot in New York, but David Harbour was nowhere to be seen.
While his longtime colleagues reunited to celebrate Maya’s big day, 50-year-old David decided to swerve the occasion. Actress Maya, 27, and singer Christian, 35, said ‘I do’ during a surprise Valentine’s weekend wedding on Saturday but David was instead on a date miles away.
Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Sadie Sink, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton and Joe Keery were all there, but as the group got together, David decided to skip the reunion. Lily Allen’s ex was pictured with a mystery woman with the star in the process of divorce.
Maya looking incredible on her big day, wearing a white wedding dress that featured a simple boat neck top met with an extravagant ruffled skirt. She paired it with an oversized, feathery winter coat. Christian kept his look classic in a tuxedo. The bride’s parents, A Listers Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman, were both in attendance.
David is currently embroiled in a series of scandals in the aftermath of the release of his estranged wife Lily’s latest album and her allegations that he was unfaithful during their marriage. In November, it was revealed Millie Bobby Brown, 21, complained about his conduct on the set of the Netflix series.
“Millie Bobby Brown filed a harassment and bullying claim before they started shooting the last season,” a source told Daily Mail, with a source adding that there were “pages and pages of accusations” claiming that “the investigation went on for months.”
However, not long after the allegations came to light, David and Millie made a public display of unity by walking into the Stranger Things red carpet final premiere on 6 November and hugging in front of the media. Millie also likened co-star and screen dad David to her father calling their friendship “special”. When asked about the importance of showing a united front, to which Millie said: “We’ve been doing that for the last 10 years.”
David broke his silence to address his “regrets” in life in an interview that was published in the wake of her cheating allegations. Lily’s album, West End Girl, was inspired by their marriage and she laid their relationship bare as she accused him of having an affair for three years of their romance with poignant tracks.
The album was her first in seven years and was recorded in just 10 days in the wake of her devastating split from the star last December. Speaking to Esquire Spain for their November edition, in an interview ahead of the album’s release, David addressed whether there’s anything he would change in his life. He said: “That’s such a hard question – the question of regret, or something. I would change either everything or nothing.
“You either accept your path completely and realise that even the pain and the slip-ups and the mistakes are all part of the journey, and that there’s truth and growth, wisdom and deeper empathy and connection in all that.
“It’s kind of like a house of cards, the minute you try to change one thing you kind of have to change it all.” He added that if he were to change anything he’d change “everything” and “just make my life happy and silly” but also said that would mean he “wasn’t an artist anymore”.
