Spain remains one of the most popular European destinations for U.S. travelers and for good reason. From sunny beaches and dramatic coastlines to scenic landscapes and historic architecture, Spain offers the European experience you’ve always dreamt of — with a reasonable flight time and favorable weather well past peak season.

And here’s some good news: There is great availability for cheap award flights from U.S. East Coast hubs to Madrid on Iberia from mid-September through the end of 2026. And with Chase Ultimate Rewards currently offering a 20% transfer bonus to Iberia, you can snag amazing deals on these flights starting at just 14,000 points for economy or 34,000 points for business class.

How to find and book TPG’s deal of the day

You’ll need to search and book directly through Iberia.

To search award pricing, log into your Iberia Club account and select “Pay with Avios” before you search. If your dates are flexible, you can select the “Monthly view of flights” option to get a full five-week calendar view of prices. You can also filter the results by fare class.

IBERIA

There is currently widespread availability for economy seating and solid availability for premium economy. Business-class awards are few and far between, but if you find one that works for you, it’ll be a terrific deal.

Right now, you’ll get the best value by transferring Chase Ultimate Rewards points (which have a 20% transfer bonus) to Iberia and other airline programs that use Avios — but that’s not your only option. American Express Membership Rewards, Bilt Rewards and Wells Fargo Rewards all transfer directly to Iberia at a 1:1 ratio.

Plus, Avios transfer (mostly) freely between other airline programs that use Avios. This means you can even turn Citi ThankYou Rewards and Capital One miles into Iberia Avios by first transferring them through those programs’ Avios partners. (Citi transfers 1:1 to British Airways; Capital One transfers 1:1 to Qatar Airways.)

All of that means there are lots of cards with welcome offers that can get you a big pile of Avios. Here are some solid options right now:

Just be sure to confirm award availability with the airline before transferring your points or miles, as transfers are irreversible.

Bottom line

If Spain has been on your travel radar and you have pretty much any kind of transferable points (or the ability to earn a bonus on a new card this spring), these deals put a dream trip within reach. Just remember that while availability is great for economy fares, you’ll definitely want to move quickly to lock in any premium-economy or business-class fares — those will not last long.
