Akshay Kumar’s niece Simar Bhatia is all set to make her Bollywood debut with the upcoming film, Ikkis. She will share the screen with Agastya Nanda, who also marks his theatrical debut with the Sriram Raghavan directorial. Recently, she turned the spotlight on herself with her playful banter with filmmaker Karan Johar.
The filmmaker shared the final trailer of the film on Instagram’s story section and wrote, “SOLID!!!! Rooting for you Aggy!!!! Welcome to the movies @simarbhatia18…you’re gorgeous!!!” The actress reshared this and wrote, “Thank you sir. Phir mujhe Dharma ka picture kyun nahin diya?”
However, KJo assured Simar that this is the best launch she could have gotten. He responded, “Haha! This is the best launch for you my darling…it looks so good! Excited to watch it and ofcourse see your debut performance.”
Simar Bhatia is Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar’s niece. A couple of weeks ago, he shared a touching note on social media as Simar steps into the world of films. He talked about watching her grow from a shy little girl into a confident young woman ready to face the camera.
Akshay shared her poster from Ikkis and wrote, “Holding you as a tiny baby to now watching you step into the world of films… life really has come full circle. Simar, I’ve seen you turn from a shy little girl who would hide behind her mom into this confident young woman ready to face the camera like she was born for it.”
Ikkis tells the inspiring true story of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, India’s youngest Param Vir Chakra awardee, who laid down his life at the age of just 21. The powerful cast includes Dharmendra, Jaideep Ahlawat, Agastya Nanda and Simar Bhatia, among others.
What makes Ikkis even more special and emotional is that it will be Dharmendra’s posthumous release. This is the last film the actor shot before passing away in November this year. He plays Agastya’s on-screen father, Brigadier M. L. Khetarpal.
Ikkis will be released theatrically on January 1, 2026.
