The Strictly Come Dancing pair have welcomed a son, they revealed on Instagram tonight.
Strictly Come Dancing’s Dianne Buswell and YouTube star Joe Sugg have welcomed their first child together. They posted a joint message on Instagram this evening saying: “Never felt a love like it.” The post reveals that the baby is called Bowden Mark Richard Sugg and that he was born on 16 March.
The post was liked by many of the Strictly family, including Nadiya Bychkova and Amy Dowden. Pro dancer Dianne announced in September that she was pregnant. She and Joe later announced they were having a son on Instagram with a video set to Elton John’s Tiny Dancer. It was captioned: “Our little baby boy. We cannot wait to meet you.”
The couple met on the 2018 series, when they were partnered with one another. In an adorable announcement when the show finished, Joe referenced how he had not won the Glitterball but had won something much better and confirmed their romance.
Since then, the pair have gone from strength to strength and have always been adamant about their desire to have children together. That happened for the pair when they announced in September 2025 that they were expecting. In an adorable video posted on social media, the pair painted a picture of three stick figures to announce they were expecting a baby in 2026.
In an Instagram post shared at the weekend, Dianne said she was on the brink of giving birth. “Another week with the bump,” she said adding: “Gonna miss the bump. Soon there will be a little dude in our arms.”
Dianne previously opened up about motherhood and how “demanding” her job is, but she would happily take a career break to have child. She said: “It is quite tough because my job is quite demanding, and I love it so much.
“It is a tough one to balance out and think about. It would take a lot of thought, but eventually one day we will get there, but there is lots happening at the moment. It will happen when it’s supposed to.”
She later added: “We’ve always wanted kids, it’s just finding the right time. I don’t feel worried about taking time out from dancing, I just don’t see the point in worrying. When everything aligns, it will happen. I have to have that vision. I like to practise manifestation, I’m quite spiritual.” Just weeks after that interview, the couple announced their happy news.
The pair have always expressed their desire to have children and said it was “100 per cent” on the cards for them.
“I would like to have children, 100 per cent. Joe and I love kids, and that’s definitely something that we would absolutely love. I haven’t really thought about how many I would like. It will definitely happen,” she said.
Dianne came under harsh criticism during her pregnancy for continuing to dance. Sharing one particularly negative post from a viewer, who said it was not “appropriate” for her to dance on the show whilst pregnant, a frustrated Dianne hit back. “I can’t believe in 2025 things like this are still being said,” she wrote.
