Strictly star Dianne Buswell has shared a glimpse at her first week as a mother and revealed that her recovery from giving birth involved spending time in an oxygen chamber
Dianne Buswell has revealed that she needed to recover in an oxygen chamber after giving birth to her first child last week. The Strictly Come Dancing star shared an insight into her first week of motherhood on Instagram.
Dianne, 36, and her partner Joe Sugg, 34, welcomed their son Bowden earlier in March 2026. Dianne took to Instagram on 22 March to share how her first week of motherhood went and the realities of her recover.
She shared pictures including one of herself in an oxygen chamber, with a mask around her head, and two of Joe with their baby boy. She also shared a selfie from the early hours of the morning, looking sleepy as she prepared to get up for a night feed and a few of the final days of her pregnancy.

In the caption, Dianne shared further details about the week. She wrote: “What a week,” Addressing each photo in order, she added: “1. The last few hours of baby bump 2. Back when I would wonder what your little face would look like 3. One more selfie for good luck.
“4. The start of what was a very long day 5. A lot happened inbetween but I’m skipping to Home time 6. So cute, we were welcomed with balloons, flowers food and just pure love. 7. Watching this will never get boring.”
Continuing her caption with some grittier details, she said: “8. The reality of night feeds.” Dianne then added that she had some “glorious mornings” despite the night feeds: “9. glorious mornings 10. Welcome cards are my fav and always make me emotional although that is not hard to do at the moment.”
Addressing her hospital trip, she said: “11. Recovery in the oxygen chamber 12. The mirror selfies just got a whole lot better 13. Spring time walks with daddy. 14. Massive thank you to my Joey who has been looking after us so so well couldn’t of done all this without ya 15. Sunday.”
This comes just after her partner Joe, whom she met on Strictly, shared a post to Instagram clarifying how to pronounce their son’s name. The Youtuber shared that his son’s full name is: “Baby Bowden Mark Richard Sugg”. He later added: “Bowden Sugg (Pronounced Bow like How not Bow like Row… hopefully that makes sense)”.
According to baby name website, The Bump, Bowden means “shelter”. It can also stand for the “one who brings It’s said to symbolise security, new beginnings, and ambition.
The middle names, meanwhile, have sweet family connections on both Joe and Dianne’s sides. Mark is Dianne’s dad’s name while Richard was Joe’s grandfather, who died in 2021. The couple met on the 2018 series of Strictly. They were partnered together for the dance contest and the public watched on as their partnership blossomed.
